The Pokémon Go May 2026 Community Day Classic is all set to happen on May 16, 2026, running from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM in your local timezone. During the duration of the event, Deino will appear more frequently in the wild, and its shiny rate will be increased. This makes it an ideal opportunity to hunt for a shundo.
If you evolve Zweilous, Deino’s evolution, at any point from the start of the event until 9:00 PM on May 16, 2026, you will be able to get your hands on a Hydregion that knows the charged attack, Brutal Swing. This is the best charged attack available for Hydreigon, making it one of the top Dark-type attackers in the game. The event will also feature several bonuses such as –
- x3 XP for catching Pokémon
- 3-hour regular Incense
- Snapshot surprises
- 1-hour Lure Modules (active 2:00 PM–9:00 PM; Deino has a very high chance of appearing at PokéStops with active Lures even after event hours)
In addition, you can also expect a Community Day-themed Field Research, which will allow players to catch Deino and earn rewards such as Stardust, Great Balls, and extra Deino encounters.
There will also be a paid Community Day Special Research that will be purchasable for $1.99. This optional research grants access to an exclusive Deino-themed storyline, which rewards players with additional Deino encounters featuring a special background, one Premium Battle Pass, and one Rare Candy XL in Pokémon Go.
Pokémon Go May 2026 Community Day Classic Featured Pokémon
Deino in Pokémon Go. | Credits: ScopelyDeino is a Dragon/Dark-type Pokémon in Pokémon Go, which means it’s effective against Ghost, Psychic, and Dragon-type Pokémon. However, it’s vulnerable against Fairy, Bug, Dragon, Fighting, and Ice-type moves. It reaches a maximum CP of 1200 in Pokémon Go, and on its own, and its evolution, Zweilous, isn’t particularly useful outside of certain PvP formats.
The real deal is its final evolution, Hydreigon, which maxes out at 4098 CP at Level 50. With the move Bite and Brutal Swing, it becomes an excellent Dark-type attacker, ranking among the top options in the game. It can also function as a capable Dragon-type attacker if you switch its fast attack to Dragon Breath. The Pseudo-Legendary Pokémon also works as a solid option when it comes to Gym defense.
When we talk about PvP, Hydreigon won’t disappoint you here either. It holds the 88th spot in Master League and performs better in Ultra League and Master League. Hydreigon’s high CP far exceeds the Great League 1500 CP cap, making it a poor fit for that format. However, to keep it competitive, you will need to unlock its third move and use Dragon Breath as its fast attack. If you are just starting out in Pokémon Go and are looking for a reliable Dark-type attacker, the May 2026 Community Day Classic is an event you should not miss.
