Ward even revealed that young actors were taught to suppress discomfort to maintain professionalism, so their future opportunities wouldn’t be threatened. Her story once again brings us back to the broader conversation of child safety and exploitation in entertainment

Why Did Maitland Ward Join the Adult Industry

Maitland Ward didn’t enter the adult industry to simply retreat from Hollywood. To her, it was a calculated reinvention, and she framed the move as a business decision to expand her career, rather than limit the prospects (via TMZ). 

Another factor behind her decision was the desire for autonomy and being authentic. Though her move sparked widespread controversy, she did not deflect and instead embraced it by later publishing her memoir, Rated X: How P*rn Liberated Me from Hollywood, and the title is pretty much self-explanatory.
