Gears of War: E-Day has a ton of weapons for you to choose from, and you can tailor your preferences to your playstyle. While every weapon has a situation where it can shine, there are some clear standouts in terms of damage, versatility, accuracy, or just how broken they are overall.
The newest title in The Coalition’s series is currently available in Early Access, and the full release arrives worldwide on October 6. If you’re getting into the action, these are the five most broken weapons in Gears of War: E-Day as of launch.
5 Prototype Lancer
Image Credit: The CoalitionThe Prototype Lancer is one of the most flexible weapons in E-Day. If you like some DOOM-style action, you’ll love its combination of a great assault rifle and a chainsaw.
It has a big magazine size and plentiful ammunition, so you can constantly fight without needing pickups. It is also effective in multiple situations since the chainsaw makes it a great option when enemies get too close.
You can make it even better with the right modifications. Perfect Reload gives you increased damage, incendiary ammunition, faster firing, and even unlimited ammunition in some cases. Other modifications improve accuracy, handling, or chainsaw utility.
The Prototype Lancer will rarely feel like the wrong weapon to have. You might not get the most damage out of it, but it is extremely reliable.
4 Ripper
Image Credit: The CoalitionThe Ripper is one of the best automatic guns in E-Day. This LMG can give you constant pressure, and its accuracy improves as you continue firing. The trade-off is that it has a slow reload speed and pretty limited ammunition for an LMG, which is why it doesn’t go higher on this list.
If you burn through the magazine without considering your position, you might find yourself in a bad position. Nevertheless, the sheer damage output makes the Ripper one of the best weapons available. If you like a good old traditional LMG, this is the gun for you.
3 Incinerator
Image Credit: The CoalitionThe Incinerator is one of the most fun weapons in E-Day, but its potential damage makes it extremely dangerous. It’s a unique weapon too because it launches a blast of Imulsion after a brief charge instead of firing bullets.
Get a good shot in, and it can do a lot of damage, and it also leaves behind an AoE that continues to deal damage. This gives the weapon utility beyond simply hitting a single target: it can punish groups and deny areas at the same time.
The weapon’s main limitation is its charge time. You can’t fire it too early or use it against fast enemies. However, when there is enough room to prepare the shot, the Incinerator is an outstanding weapon.
Its combination of burst damage and lingering area denial makes it one of the most oppressive weapons in the right hands.
2 Longshot
Image Credit: The CoalitionThe Longshot is the best precision weapon in Gears of War: E-Day. This high-caliber sniper rifle is designed to reward accurate players with huge critical damage from long range.
However, it’s not just a long-range option. You can use the Longshot aggressively if you want, and it opens the opportunity for skilled players to have more freedom than just being a sniper.
The Longshot also has great modifications, including options that increase critical damage, improve accuracy, reduce recoil, expand ammunition capacity, or make Perfect Reloads provide specialized ammunition. You can even get Perfect Ammo that detonates enemies after critical kills.
We recommend checking this weapon out even if you aren’t a sniper player.
1 Gnasher
Image Credit: The CoalitionThe Gnasher is in the top spot of our list because it has huge close-range damage while also being great for mobility, in the traditional sense of a Gears of War game. Although it lacks the range of the weapons above it, few weapons are as immediately threatening when an opponent gets within its effective range.
The shotgun’s damage drops rapidly at longer distances, but at point-blank range it is easily the best, with a single well-placed shot being enough for a lot of smaller enemies. So if you’re going to use it, you’ll want to have good movement, positioning, wall bouncing, and an aggressive playstyle.
You also have many customization options from modifications. You can modify its reload speed, magazine capacity, and even its aiming and firing. You can even put a Full Auto modification to increase its rate of fire. So the Gnasher’s greatest advantage is not just its damage.
Which of these weapons will you be running in Gears of War: E-Day? Let us know in the comments!
