It has been a well-known fact that Henry Cavill left the production of The Witcher due to a creative difference between him and showrunner Lauren S. Hissrich. However, it seems that following his exit, the actor finally affirmed his 100% commitment to source accuracy.
In a recent interview with L’Officiel, the Man of Steel actor was quite open about his time spent as Superman in Zack Snyder’s DCEU and his time as Geralt of Rivia in the Netflix show. During his talks, the actor mentioned that it is an immense responsibility to portray a character that people have known and loved for so many years.
Well, it’s an enormous responsibility. I’ve always felt that from the beginning, because I love Superman, and I especially love Geralt as well. I’ve always gone into it with 100% commitment to being faithful to what the fans love.
With Superman and Geralt of Rivia being two of the most iconic characters that the actor has portrayed in his Hollywood career, it seemed that Cavill remembers them quite fondly. The irony is that Cavill had accuracy in mind when talking about his best and his not-so-great projects at the same time.
Henry Cavill Talks His Best and Worst Projects

Although some people found his character controversial, others praised his performance, and his bond with Russell Crowe (who played his on-screen adoptive father) was received warmly too.
The actor also solidified his position as a gentleman with the release of The Man From U.N.C.L.E. in 2015, and the rest remains history. Naturally, Man of Steel is considered to be one of his best projects of all time. Although The Witcher was expected to follow a similar trend, Cavill left the production.
I’ve always gone into it with 100% commitment to being faithful to what the fans love. Not trying to convert anything into my version, but it’s always about doing the thing that people love, whether that’s in tone or essence or a literal copy. I will always aim to do those things.
Citing creative differences for the exit, The Witcher came to be a big bad project for Henry Cavill. However, the actor did state that he loved the characters of Superman and Geralt of Rivia dearly, but his commitment to accuracy was something that he loved more. It’s like if Jon Snow from Game of Thrones had been an actor.
Henry Cavill’s Love for Accuracy Is Evident In Highlander Reboot

Directed by Chad Stahelski, the film is expected to be one of Cavill’s best works, and it seems that the actor is going above and beyond to achieve that.
In continued conversation with L’Officiel, Cavill revealed his favorite memory while filming Highlander. While shooting in Scotland, the actor recalled that they were dropped off at the old Man of Storr, a rock formation on the Isle of Skye, for a strenuous shoot.
But then, because we’re losing the light and we have to get these shots, it’s a really important moment in the movie. When we called action, Russell and I both shed that discomfort, and we fell right into the characters. Those precious moments, that time, were extraordinarily well spent.
He continued,
You didn’t feel the cold; you just felt the affection and love in that moment. It was such a special thing to be able to do. I wasn’t looking at Russell during my close-up, while he was sitting there and shivering and looking super uncomfortable, but he was actually in the moment, and so was I.
This just goes on to prove how iconic the duo of Henry Cavill and Russell Crowe is. The iconic action scene described by Cavill highlights how realistic the Highlander reboot will likely be. Although the reboot doesn’t have a confirmed release date, fans will be waiting excitedly for it.
Man of Steel and The Witcher are available to stream on HBO Max and Netflix, respectively.
