The Boys Officially Gets Its True Successor in Garth Ennis’ Next Amazon Movie

Missing The Boys? Garth Ennis has a new project with Amazon MGM Studios. His horror-noir comic series, Freddie the Fix (via Deadline), is getting a feature film adaptation. The project is currently in development at the studio. This update comes almost five months after The Boys finale aired back in May, marking the end of the series after five seasons. The Freddie the Fix movie comes from Ennis’ familiar territory, but unlike The Boys‘ superhero satire, it dives into Hollywood’s supernatural underworld.

The project is being helmed by Lawrence Lamont, who directed Sony’s One of Them Days with Keke Palmer. It is being produced by Kimberly Steward, Alex Foster, and Kenya Barris, with Kalen Egan & Travis Sentell writing the screenplay. Meanwhile, Jeremy Allen, Ennis, Adam Glass, Michael Bogner, and David Stone serve as executive producers for the Amazon movie.

Freddie the Fix follows the titular character, Freddie, who works as a fixer for Hollywood’s supernatural elite: werewolves, vampires, aliens, zombies, bogeymen, and other predators. While Freddie himself is a human, he possesses an almost magical ability to make incriminating things disappear. Freddie the Fix was released from Ninth Circle after Garth Ennis founded the horror imprint at Image Comics. The comic was illustrated by Mike Perkins and earned recognition from both critics and readers. The Amazon movie based on the comic is the first Ninth Circle property to get a screen adaptation.

While the further plot details for the movie remain under wraps, we could assume that it would echo the storytelling of Ennis’ other work. Image Comics describes Freddie the Fix as a ‘horror-skewed intersection’ of The Boys and Ray Donovan, which was also turned into a Showtime crime-drama series.

As of now, there are no cast details about the Freddie the Fix movie. We also have no information about when production will begin or when the movie will be released in theaters. That said, Ennis has rarely disappointed his fans. Hopefully, with Amazon, he will deliver the best The Boys successor, offering us his distinctive storytelling combining horror and humor.
