Spoiler Alert !!!
This article contains spoilers from Boruto: Two Blue Vortex manga.
Naruto Uzumaki became one of the strongest shinobi in history by mastering the power of Kurama, the Nine-Tailed Fox sealed inside him. For much of Naruto, the Jinchuriki system was one of the series’ defining power sources, with the strongest users reaching almost godlike levels. But Boruto has changed that idea in a major way.
Himawari Uzumaki’s connection with Kurama is not simply another version of Naruto’s Jinchuriki status. The manga has established that their relationship works differently, creating a new way for Tailed Beast power to exist. This shift marks the real end of the Jinchuriki system that once made Konoha’s strongest weapon so important.
Boruto Has Made the Jinchuriki System a Thing of the Past

Tailed Beasts were treated as living weapons because of their enormous chakra, while villages sealed them inside humans to control and use that power. Naruto himself was the Jinchuriki of Kurama, and his connection with the Nine-Tails eventually became one of the biggest sources of his strength.
That system also came with serious limits. A Jinchuriki and their Tailed Beast were still two separate beings sharing the same body. Naruto had to gradually earn Kurama’s trust before he could use the Nine-Tails’ power without fighting against its will. Even after their bond became incredibly strong, the basic relationship remained that of a human host and a Tailed Beast.
That is exactly what makes Himawari so different. Naruto lost Kurama permanently after using Baryon Mode in Boruto: Naruto Next Generations. However, Kurama eventually returned through Himawari. In Boruto: Two Blue Vortex Chapter 10, Kurama explained that he had been reborn inside her, with the possibility that a portion of his chakra had existed within her since birth. At first, this could have looked like a simple replacement for Naruto. Instead, the story deliberately took the idea in another direction.

Boruto: Two Blue Vortex Chapter 25 makes the difference much clearer. Kurama explains that Himawari is not an ordinary Jinchuriki. Rather than being a human with a Tailed Beast sealed inside her, Himawari is described as being closer to Jura, the direct incarnation of the Ten-Tails. That distinction changes everything.
A traditional Jinchuriki has a separation between their own body and the Tailed Beast within them. Himawari’s situation is presented as something much closer to being one entity. Kurama and Himawari share one body and one soul, meaning Kurama’s abilities are not simply borrowed power that Himawari has to draw out when needed. They are effectively part of what makes her unique.
This also explains why Kurama considers their synergy greater than what he had with his previous hosts. Naruto spent years learning how to properly work with Kurama, while Himawari appears to have a natural connection with him from the beginning.
Her potential was already clear when she confronted Jura and demonstrated an extraordinary level of power and healing ability. She even managed to revive Inojin, showing that her connection with Kurama can produce abilities far beyond simply throwing around massive amounts of chakra.
That makes the change in the power system more interesting than simply giving Kurama to the next generation. Boruto is moving away from the idea that the ultimate power comes from sealing a Tailed Beast inside a human and toward something more natural, where the human and the Tailed Beast can effectively become one.
For Naruto, Kurama was the power that helped turn an isolated young ninja into one of the strongest shinobi alive. For Himawari, Kurama could become something much bigger: a natural part of her own existence.
And considering Himawari is still developing as a ninja, her eventual ceiling remains one of the most interesting unknowns in Boruto. The story has already established that her connection with Kurama is different from Naruto’s, but just how far that new relationship can go is something future chapters will have to answer.
Now the big question: Do you also think Himawari’s unique bond with Kurama has officially made the old Jinchuriki system obsolete in Boruto? Share your thoughts in the comments section below.
