Marvel may be setting up a bigger crossover for Peter Parker than fans expected. Kevin Feige has teased that Spider-Man: Brand New Day is part of the next wave of MCU storytelling, while reports around Florence Pugh’s possible involvement as Yelena Belova suggest a direct link to Avengers: Doomsday. During an appearance at BiliBili World in Shanghai (via Entertainment Weekly), Feige said:
If you’re a fan of Yelena, wait until Avengers: Doomsday. Yelena plays a big part in that. But if you don’t want to wait until then, you might see Yelena a little bit sooner in the movies.
The timing is notable because Brand New Day arrives before the next Avengers film, giving Marvel a chance to use Spider-Man to bridge street-level action with the larger saga. The talk of Yelena also adds weight to the idea that Peter’s next chapter will not stay isolated for long.

Florence Pugh’s Possible Role May Expand Spider-Man’s Ties to Avengers: Doomsday
Florence Pugh as Yelena Belova in a still from Thunderbolts* | Credits: Marvel StudiosFeige’s comments point to a Spider-Man film that matters beyond Peter’s solo story. If Florence Pugh appears, Yelena could become the character who pulls Spider-Man closer to the New Avengers setup. That would fit Marvel’s recent pattern of using supporting heroes to connect different corners of the MCU. It also makes sense of the buzz that Brand New Day may carry both grounded conflict and larger franchise consequences.
Yelena Belova has already become one of Marvel’s most important newer characters, and her next appearance could help define the post-Thunderbolts era. Reports suggest Pugh’s role in Brand New Day may be tied to recruiting Spider-Man or building toward the Avengers side of the MCU. That kind of move would give the film more purpose than just another solo outing. It would also help Marvel keep Peter Parker relevant inside the wider shared universe. (via IGN)
If the Florence Pugh chatter proves true, Marvel could be using Brand New Day to do more than continue Spider-Man’s story. It may also be the film that quietly starts stitching Peter Parker into the next Avengers era. That is the kind of bridge fans often want from the MCU, and it could make this chapter feel much bigger than a standard sequel.
