Forget Peaky Blinders, Netflix’s 10/10 Perfect Replacement Returns in 10 Days

Tommy Shelby may be off the board for now, but Netflix has another sharply dressed British criminal ready to make his next move. The Gentlemen Season 2 premieres September 3, 2026, bringing Theo James’ Eddie Horniman and Kaya Scodelario’s Susie Glass back into Guy Ritchie’s aristocratic underworld. Better yet, Netflix has already renewed the series for Season 3, before the second season has even premiered.

For Peaky Blinders fans, The Gentlemen comes remarkably close to being a 10/10 replacement. It swaps Birmingham’s soot and razor gangs for country estates and cannabis empires, but the criminal DNA is unmistakable: impeccably dressed operators, volatile family loyalties, ruthless social climbing, and an underworld where every favor comes with interest. Guy Ritchie folds those ingredients into a lighter, more mischievous package, giving viewers the same intoxicating dance between wealth, violence, and ambition without simply retracing Tommy Shelby’s footsteps. 

Season 1 earned an 84% Popcornmeter score on Rotten Tomatoes, alongside a 75% Tomatometer from critics, while Netflix had enough confidence in Eddie Horniman’s expanding criminal empire to renew the series for Season 3 before Season 2 even premiered. 

Eddie Is No Longer a Reluctant Gangster

The Gentlemen Season 1 began with Eddie unexpectedly inheriting his father’s estate and discovering an enormous cannabis operation underneath it. Susie, meanwhile, ran the business on behalf of her father, Bobby Glass. Eddie initially wanted the criminal enterprise gone, but his knack for navigating Britain’s underworld gradually changed the equation. By the finale, Eddie and Susie had played their rivals against one another and emerged with considerably greater control over the operation. Season 2 therefore gets to flip the script: Eddie is no longer being dragged reluctantly through the criminal world. He has developed an appetite for it.

Netflix says the new season begins one year after Eddie and Susie joined forces in Bobby’s overseas criminal empire. Their ambition has grown, but Bobby’s increasingly questionable decisions threaten to upset the apple cart. Eddie and Susie must decide whether to challenge the man above them or risk watching the business unravel. The action also stretches beyond England. Season 2 takes the enterprise to Italy, widening a story that previously revolved largely around Eddie’s estate and the British criminal ecosystem.

The Gentlemen Season 2 Raises the Stakes and Expands the Cast

Theo James and Kaya Scodelario remain the show’s central double act, but plenty of familiar troublemakers are returning. Daniel Ings, Ray Winstone, Vinnie Jones, Joely Richardson, and Giancarlo Esposito are among the Season 1 players coming back. They will have new company. Hugh Bonneville, Benedetta Porcaroli, Benjamin Clementine, Michele Morrone, Sergio Castellitto, Amra Mallassi, Chris Eubank Jr., and Maya Jama have joined the second season, giving Ritchie more pieces to shuffle around his increasingly crowded criminal chessboard.

Season 1 already crossed that bridge. Season 2 can now ask the nastier question: what happens when Eddie stops trying to escape the game and starts enjoying winning it? That is also where the Peaky Blinders comparison earns its keep. Tommy Shelby’s story was never simply about being a gangster; power kept moving the finish line every time he reached it. Eddie is beginning to learn the same lesson in a much cheekier corner of British crime fiction.

Netflix clearly believes there is more road ahead. With Season 3 already secured, The Gentlemen no longer looks like a one-hit criminal caper. Eddie Horniman is building an empire, and the bill is bound to come due.
