Metro Vancouver was drenched Friday, thanks to an atmospheric river that hit the region hard, bringing with it heavy rainfall and winds.
A rainfall warning issued by Environment Canada on Saturday said the region could expect between 20 to 40 millimetres of rain, with up to 60 millimetres possible on the North Shore.
The rainfall Saturday caused localized flooding throughout Metro Vancouver and general mayhem on the roads, with vehicles stranded in waist-high water and creeks and rivers overflowing their banks.

So when will the atmospheric river hitting Metro Vancouver end? When will the rain stop?
According to the warning issued on Saturday, the rain is expected to ease in the evening but will continue into Sunday afternoon.
Looking ahead to the coming week, Monday will be cloudy with sunny breaks though there’s still scattered showers in the afternoon and into the evening.
Tuesday, however, will offer more respite. Expect a mix of sun and clouds on Tuesday morning before we finally get some sun on Tuesday afternoon and on Wednesday.
