It’s been roughly five months since Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni’s feud took over the headlines following their collaboration on It Ends With Us. Fans have already learned about the lawsuits filed by each party, with the actress accusing the filmmaker of s*xual harassment and a smear campaign.
Meanwhile, Baldoni firmly denies all allegations, and he recently exposed his conversation with Lively which could be used as court evidence. The drama continues to make noise in Hollywood, and it seems like fans are starting to have doubts about who they should believe in.
Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni’s controversy is a “lose-lose” situation for women
Blake Lively believed that her appearance in It Ends With Us would be the revival of her career. The actress is most recognized for her role as Serena van der Woodsen in The CW’s Gossip Girl. She earned a cult following from that show alone, and the majority of them are women.
Now, following the controversy involving her complaint against director and former costar Justin Baldoni, Lively may have been starting to lose her strong fanbase. While some women are showing support for the actress amid her alleged traumatizing experience on the movie set, others have simply disowned her.
In an Instagram video shared by life coach Bansari Shah, she pointed out how the Lively-Baldoni issue is a “lose-lose” situation for women. If the director is proven guilty, then it would mean he was only a performative feminist ally and cannot be trusted. However, if Lively is discovered telling lies, then it paints women in a negative light.
If it turns out Blake Lively lied then it really destroys reputation of women as a whole because it makes us look like we’re liars and manipulative when it comes to truth and we just accuse people.
Shah also noted that if a high-profile case like this ended up with a woman telling lies about s*xual harassment then it would have a profound effect on future cases.
Blake Lively slowly loses her fans’ support
Several fans also voiced their opinions in the comments section of the video. One user named jeseniagrams said, “Blake Lively does NOT represent all women,” while jasmine.flan wrote, “She messed up so much during the premiere and in interviews,” pertaining to how the actress took the movie’s theme of domestic violence very lightly.
Meanwhile, ashese87 commented, “I dislike Blake for her actions,” while surprise.itsayesha stated, “I can’t support blake lively she’s been trying DESPERATELY to make a case.” Finally, sam_i_am_1023 remarked that if the actress is found out lying, “she’s lost all respect from me for the rest of her life.”
In times like this when Lively needs the support of her fans, it seems like she’s starting to lose many of her followers because of the controversy. The actress had previously aired her frustration about the impact of the case on her career, and it’s only a matter of time before we find out who really is telling the truth.
