With the Vaas: Insanity DLC for Far Cry 6, fans got to experience the iconic story of Far Cry 3 but from a different perspective. Players get to play as Vaas Montenegro and once again witness the final confrontation between Vaas and Jason in Far Cry 3. The DLC perfectly captures the state of mind Jason was in when he attacked Vaas, showing the insane side of him.
The fight sequence in particular was praised by fans all over the world. Thanks to the success of Vaas: Insanity DLC, more DLCS were made that allowed players to experience the world from the perspective of other Far Cry antagonists such as Pagan: Control and Joseph: Collapse.
The Vaas: Insanity DLC for Far Cry 6 showcased Jason Brody’s psychotic mental state
In November 2021, just one month after the release of Far Cry 6, the first DLC for the game, Vaas: Insanity DLC, was rolled out. The DLC allowed players to play as Vaas Montenegro from Far Cry 3 and experience one of the most iconic fights from the game from Vaas’ perspective.
A player on the r/farcry subreddit shared a side-by-side comparison of both fight sequences. Since Far Cry 3 only had a first-person view, players couldn’t truly understand the state Jason Brody was in when he killed Vaas. As Vaas in the DLC, players get to see the psychotic nature of Jason when he stabbed Vaas in the Payback mission in Far Cry 3.

Far Cry 3 is widely regarded as one of the best games in the Far Cry series. Its world design, visuals, progression, and gameplay were one of the few reasons behind its success. It was a commercial success and was nominated for multiple year-end accolades.
The development of Far Cry 7 has started
Various news outlets have claimed that Ubisoft has started the development of the next game in the Far Cry series. As per Insider Gaming, Ubisoft is working on two games under the Far Cry franchise, but their release dates have been moved from 2025 to 2026. It is also rumored that Ubisoft is planning to ditch its ‘Far Cry formula,‘ which is certainly a risky decision, primarily because Ubisoft isn’t exactly doing the best right now.
If Ubisoft is truly planning to explore new ideas, it should take inspiration from one of the most underrated games in the series: Far Cry Primal. Sources have claimed that the next Far Cry games will share some improved movement systems that will allow players to swiftly perform movements like sliding, vaulting, and tactical spriting.
