The long-running military police procedural show NCIS has done wonders for one of its guest actors. Scott Wolf, who is famously known for playing Bailey Salinger in Party of Five and Carson Drew in Nancy Drew, seemed to have left a memorable impact on the series. Until today, he is recognized for playing a short-lived villain in NCIS.

The series has a reputation for bringing in well-known actors for guest roles, and this is why they seemed to have a lasting impact on the story despite the small screen time. In the case of Wolf, he played Jonathan Cole, aka Casey Stratton, who had a significant role in the story.

Scott Wolf looks back on his iconic character in NCIS

Scott Wolf only appeared in three episodes of NCIS — in Season 9 Episode 1: “Nature of the Beast,” Episode 12: “Housekeeping,” and Episode 24: “Till Death Do Us Part” — but this was enough for fans to remember him for a long time.

Well, he was a villain in the show who ended up having a redeeming arc, and for the actor, it’s a cool story to tell. Wolf spoke with TV Insider and shared that fans still remember him for playing a special ops team member.

I did three episodes, I don’t even know how long ago, and I might get stopped for that in airports as much as anything else. It’s a very popular show, obviously.

The 56-year-old star remarked how the series was able to make a little arc out of the character even though he only appeared for three episodes. He didn’t become a forgettable one-off role, and for that, he was truly grateful.

The way he sacrificed himself in the end to save his team members was quite a rare story to give to a villain. He believed in his actions, and even if it meant he would kill other people in the process, what he did was perceived as heroic.

Playing an ex-Navy Seal was tough for Wolf as he needed to look well-trained and used to firing guns. He recalled one incident when he had to execute the scene, and he sort of reacted while pulling the trigger. That part had to be reshot the following week.

After starring as a killer in NCIS, Wolf is now saving lives in the new Fox series called Doc. He plays Dr. Richard Miller in the medical drama show that premiered a few days ago.

The actor isn’t a stranger to playing a doctor as this is his fourth time starring as one on television. However, he noted that his character here is very different.

Again, he’s portraying an antagonist; well, it’s quite complicated as he’s not entirely a bad guy. “This is a very good human being who has found himself in an awful situation where mistakes have been made,” he explained via Parade. Even this role proved to be challenging for Wolf.

NCIS is currently available to watch on CBS.
