Boruto Uzumaki has reached a point where some of Naruto‘s strongest legends no longer feel completely untouchable. Three years of training transformed his speed, swordsmanship, and ninjutsu, while Flying Raijin and Rasengan Uzuhiko gave him tools that his younger self could never have imagined.

His battles against Code and the Divine Trees have also shown how dramatically his ceiling has risen. But how far back into Naruto‘s power hierarchy can he realistically go? These five characters represent some of the strongest Naruto-era opponents Boruto could plausibly defeat with his current abilities.

5 Nagato – Boruto Has the Speed to Break Through the Six Paths

Nagato remains one of the most terrifying shinobi from Naruto, with the Rinnegan giving him access to the Six Paths Technique and devastating abilities such as Shinra Tensei and Chibaku Tensei. His crippled body limited him, but his Edo Tensei version demonstrated just how difficult he was to contain.

Boruto has a major advantage in mobility, particularly with his Flying Raijin, while Uzuhiko gives him a dangerous finishing option. Nagato’s overwhelming versatility keeps this close, but Boruto’s speed and modern arsenal give him the edge. That puts Nagato in the fifth position on this list.

4 Killer B – Boruto’s Otsutsuki Power Can Overwhelm the Eight-Tails

Killer B was one of the most powerful jinchuriki in Naruto, possessing complete control over the Eight-Tails and combining its chakra with his unconventional swordsmanship. He could fight the Akatsuki’s strongest members and survive encounters against powerful opponents such as Sasuke.

The interesting part is that Boruto has developed his own teleportation technique based on his Otsutsuki abilities, producing effects similar to the jutsu Minato mastered.

Boruto also has his swordsmanship and Uzuhiko, giving him more offensive options. Minato lands second because he would still make the fight incredibly difficult, but current Boruto has the power and versatility to overcome him.

1 DMS Kakashi – Kamui Is Terrifying, But Boruto Has the Edge

Double Mangekyo Sharingan Kakashi may have had one of the most extraordinary temporary power-ups in Naruto. After receiving both of Obito’s Mangekyo Sharingan for a moment, Kakashi gained access to Kamui, Kamui Shuriken, and a Complete Body Susanoo capable of fighting Kaguya.

However, this form existed only because Obito temporarily transferred his ocular powers and chakra to Kakashi, making it extremely short-lived. Current Boruto has the speed and teleportation needed to avoid Kakashi’s attacks, while Uzuhiko gives him a way to end the fight if it connects. DMS Kakashi remains dangerous, but Boruto has a credible path to victory. That makes him the number one pick on this list.
