Sony Allegedly Copyright Strikes Theory Predicting Miles Morales in Avengers: Doomsday

The Avengers: Doomsday theories are getting more popular as the release date approaches, but one theory may have hit too close to home as Sony allegedly put a copyright strike on it. X user Bradley Osborne claimed that a theory he posited has been struck down and said that it was Sony that claimed the copyright.

Neither Sony nor Marvel Studios has commented on the claim, and the original post cannot be independently verified. Still, the timing lines up with a broader pattern. Doomsday-related footage, along with leaked Avengers: Endgame Encore scenes, has been scrubbed from social media again and again in recent weeks, only to reappear hours later (via AV Club). Here is what actually went down.

What is the Miles Morales Doomsday Theory That Sony Allegedly Struck?

Miles Morales has not yet been represented in live-action, but he is the lead of the Spider-Verse franchise. Sony has yet to release Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse, which is due next year, and after that, there might be chances of him finally making his live-action debut. Sony would not want any story idea to hinder that.

However, the theory that has gotten everyone interested, including allegedly Sony too, is by Bradley Osborne, known as @the_Bradster007 on X. According to a post by the user, the theory posited that Miles Morales will be pulled into an incursion event at the end of Beyond the Spider-Verse and be taken into Battleworld, where he will make his live-action debut and lead into Secret Wars.

Incursions and Battleworld have long been speculated to be part of both Avengers: Doomsday and Secret Wars, as they are storyline in the comics as well. Many leaks from Endgame Encore have also been pointing to the Doomsday setup of incursions and verse-jumping. 

An extended scene from Encore shows Bruce Banner being spirited away by what appears to be Doom from a high-security prison. The post-credits scene of Spider-Man: Brand New Day also showed the Spidey tracker showing his location away from Earth. Many have also speculated that this could be another Spider-Man, possibly Miles.

While Sony striking the theory has not been confirmed yet, nor has the theory, the speculations about the future of the MCU and Miles Morales’ part in it have been pretty prominent.

What Has Been Actually Confirmed about Miles Morales in the MCU?

Beyond the leaks and theories, Miles Morales’ inclusion in the MCU is not as simple as just making the storyline work. All Spider-Man characters are owned by Sony, and Kevin Feige has stated that the MCU is forbidden from using Miles in the MCU until the Spider-Verse trilogy is wrapped up. Feige said that there were definitely plans, however (via Deadline).

Marvel has planted small, unofficial nods toward Miles in live-action projects over the years, including Aaron Davis referencing his nephew in Spider-Man: Homecoming and a stray mention of Officer Morales in Daredevil: Born Again, but both are widely read as winks rather than commitments.

Since Beyond the Spider-Verse is coming out in June 2027, it is impossible for Miles to appear in Doomsday (unless Sony and Marvel have worked something out). Secret Wars is a tad bit more possible, as the movie is scheduled to release in December 2027, past the deadline for the Spider-Verse trilogy. Still, everything is just speculation at this point.
