NO THANKS, PETE
Re “‘Keep your nose out’: U.S. Ambassador Pete Hoekstra warns Canada as midterms loom” (Bryan Passifiume, Oct. 15): Well, Mr. Pete Hoekstra, thanks for your valued input and comments. Many Canadians will tell you that maybe, as a representative of the Republican Party, you should listen to your own words and then possibly share those with your president. Your president has stuck his words, weak ideas, insults and his American comments in the face of almost every country and government in the world, Canada, France, the United Kingdom, Germany, Italy, Denmark, Mexico, Haiti, Afghanistan, Somalia, Australia, China, Sweden, just to name a few. Wake up, Pete.

(This criticism didn’t land well for the Ambassador because of the irony of the claims)
CBC OUT
Re “Two prominent journalists say bias against Conservatives in Ottawa is real” (Lorrie Goldstein, Octo. 18): It is difficult to accept an argument that the leader of the Conservative Party must overcome the arrogant approach of the Liberals in order to garner fair reporting from journalists who “are trying to be fair, whatever their initial propositions.” As Andrew Coyne suggests, federal subsidies to the newspaper industry from a government in power is not conducive to fair reporting about the opposition. But a $1.4B subsidy to the CBC, the media outlet at which Andrew Coyne is a regular panelist, taints the whole prospect of unbiased news in Canada. Stop the pretense. Eliminate the CBC and its Liberal Party propaganda. Allow media organizations to compete in an environment that favours free expression.
