Infinity Ward closes out its rebooted Modern Warfare saga with a finale that splits across three distinct payoffs rather than a single climactic mission. In Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4, one strand wraps up the Korean Peninsula invasion storyline, another delivers a brutal confrontation for Captain Price, and a hidden post-credits scene quietly sets the stage for what comes next in the series. Here’s who survives, who doesn’t, and what each of the three endings signals.

How the Korea and Price Storylines Lead Into the Modern Warfare 4 Finale
Modern Warfare 4 endings | Credit: ActivisionModern Warfare 4’s campaign runs two stories side by side before they intersect. One follows Captain Price, who has gone rogue in the aftermath of Soap’s death in Modern Warfare III. Price tracks Vladimir Makarov to New York and kills him there, but Makarov’s death only deepens the mystery behind the invasion.
It pushes Price into an uneasy alliance with cartel leader Valeria Garza as the two set out to find the figure who was really pulling the strings behind Makarov all along: a mysterious man known only as The Archer. The campaign eventually reveals that Archer is a Russian defense minister tied to the Konni Group and, in a major twist, Makarov’s own father.
The second thread follows Private Park Hyun-Jun and South Korea’s Sierra-1 unit as North Korea’s newly installed Supreme Leader, Ri Ju-Young, launches a full invasion of the South. That invasion is traced back to Archer, who supplied the weapon that triggered the war in the first place. A North Korean officer named Ko Jin-Hyuk initially appears loyal to the new regime, but is shown assisting in the palace purge that installs Ri Ju-Young, before later defecting to become a key ally to Sierra-1 as both storylines race toward their closing missions.
The Three Modern Warfare 4 Endings Explained
There are three endings in the game | Credit: ActivisionThe Korea ending plays out at the close of the 15th mission, Decapitation. After Sierra-1 destroys the North Korean presidential palace and kills Ri Ju-Young, the squad prepares to evacuate by helicopter. Park spots Ko standing alone near the burning building, and the two share a final exchange.
Rather than leaving with the team, Ko chooses to stay behind, telling Park that despite wanting out earlier in the campaign, Korea is still his home and he intends to fight for its future, a strong hint that he’s positioning himself to lead the country going forward.
The Ghost ending arrives in the final mission, Greater Good. Price finally corners Archer for a fight to the death, ultimately killing him with a metal pipe, but ends up sustaining fatal wounds of his own in the process. As he bleeds out on a frozen lake, Ghost arrives for a quiet final exchange before Price dies, with the former asking the latter if it was worth it.
With Soap gone in Modern Warfare III and Price and Gaz gone by the end of this campaign, Ghost becomes the last original member of Task Force 141 left standing.
The Laswell ending is a hidden scene that plays after the credits. Laswell is shown at a cafe, deleting the remaining Task Force 141 files now that the team has effectively been wiped out. A mysterious woman then joins her, and Laswell reveals she is stepping back from her longtime role to let this newcomer take over as the organization’s next “Watcher.”
Together, these three endings close the book on Price’s arc while leaving Ko, Ghost, and Laswell’s successor as open threads, pointing toward where the Modern Warfare story goes from here.
The game comes out fully on October 23, 2026, giving players a chance to go through this amazing campaign themselves. Did you expect the twists in the story we just revealed? Make sure to let us know in the comments below!
