The first stage of Steel Ball Run was released as a single 47-minute episode. It introduced Johnny Joestar, Gyro Zeppeli, and the massive Steel Ball Run race while setting up the strange events waiting ahead. The next release will be much bigger. The 2nd and 3rd Stages will contain 11 episodes in total, with one new episode arriving every Friday. This is a big change from the first release and should make the return more exciting for fans who want to talk about each episode as it comes out.

The latest trailer has also confirmed the arrival of Mountain Tim, Hot Pants, and Funny Valentine, giving fans plenty of new faces to watch when the story returns. The anime also gets a fresh opening theme called “Spin,” performed by Kroi (via the official website). The new stages take Johnny and Gyro into a dangerous desert area. Somewhere along this route is the mysterious Devil’s Palm, an area that quickly becomes one of the biggest mysteries of the race. The Steel Ball Run may have started as a horse race, but it is becoming clear that there is something much bigger hiding behind the competition.

This is also where Steel Ball Run starts to show more of its unique identity. The story still has the wild battles, strange abilities, and over-the-top characters that fans expect from JoJo, but the horse race gives Part 7 a very different feel.

Johnny’s journey is also becoming more interesting. He is not simply trying to win a race. His decision to follow Gyro has given him a new purpose, and every challenge pushes him closer to understanding his own abilities and what he truly wants. Gyro, meanwhile, remains one of the biggest reasons the story works so well. His strange personality, powerful Steel Balls, and bond with Johnny bring plenty of fun moments even when the story becomes dark.
