One of the questions that have continued to riddle fans of Dolly Parton is the country singer’s reasoning behind wearing long sleeves and gloves. The acclaimed singer, who rose to prominence following her association with The Porter Wagoner Show and the success of her first album, Hello, I’m Dolly, has always preferred wearing fingerless gloves or long sleeves in public.
Although some reported that it was due to the potential scars on her hand from a corrective hand surgery, some fans speculated that it might be linked to the singer’s tattoos. Tackling the hoopla surrounding her arms, Parton revealed that it wasn’t as serious as everyone was making it out to be.
Dolly Parton Set the Record Straight About Her Arms
In 2014, Dolly Parton briefly touched on the rumors surrounding the reasoning behind the long sleeves, as some speculated that she might had “snake tattoos” all over her. The singer added that this was definitely not the case, stressing that she had very few tattoos, joking they were “mostly done to cover scars ’cause I’m so fair”.
But during an interview with Vanity Fair, the 9 to 5 singer delved deeper into the subject, stating that most of the tattoos were because of her “tendency to have keloid scar tissue”. Elaborating on it, Parton shared that those scars leave a purple tinge, which cannot be removed, and clarified that most of her tattoos are pastels and not her attempt to “make some big, bold statement”.
I don’t really like to make a big to-do of [the tattoos] because people make such a big damn deal over every little thing… [I] kind of have a purple tinge that I can never get rid of. I’m not trying to make some big, bold statement.
As of now, it can’t be said for certain if the singer will ever give her fans a glimpse of the pastel-colored tattoos.
The Revelation of Miley Cyrus Being Family Didn’t Surprise Dolly Parton
Being a close friend of Miley Cyrus‘ father Billy Ray Cyrus, when the latter asked Dolly Parton if she’d become his daughter’s godmother, the answer was a resounding yes.
Interestingly, the bond between Miley Cyrus and the country singer runs much deeper than that, as Ancestry revealed the two were connected by their ancestor, John Brickey of Virginia, who was Parton’s sixth and Cyrus’ seventh great-grandfather.
Is that true? That’s amazing! I’m sure she’ll get a kick out of that.
However, this didn’t surprise Parton, as even before the revelation, the singer expressed that Cyrus has always felt like family.
