One such freebie is the Shipmate Monkey, a companion reward that players can claim without spending any in-game resources at all.

How to Claim the Shipmate Monkey in Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced

The Shipmate Monkey isn’t buried behind a mission or a currency grind. And instead, players can claim it for themselves in two different ways:

Through the in-game Animus Hub

• Launch Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced and make sure you have an active internet connection for the Animus Hub to work.
• Open the pause menu and select the Animus Hub.
• Navigate to the Store tab.
• Scroll down to the bottom of the listings, where the free items are grouped together.
• Select the Shipmate Monkey and confirm the claim.

Through the Promotional Redeem Code

• Head over to the Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced Redeem Code webpage here.
• Ensure that you are logged into your Ubisoft Connect account.
• Enter this code in the prompted area: ASC-BFR-PMK-000
• Click on the “Submit My Code” button.

Once claimed, the pet can be equipped from the inventory screen and will appear aboard the Jackdaw as a cosmetic companion. The process is essentially the same for every platform across PS5, Xbox Series X/ S, and PC.

It is easy to mix up the Shipmate Monkey with the game’s other primate companions. For your better understanding, Albert the Monkey is unlocked through the Monkey Business Local Event in Havana, where players raid a docked Spanish ship to rescue him.

The Dark Animus Familiar, meanwhile, comes from the free Eye in the Dark Animus Project and is earned by swapping into that track and completing a couple of early Anomaly challenges. The Shipmate Monkey skips all of this, making it the fastest pet to unlock in the entire game.
