Hereditary Director’s Next Movie With Scarlett Johansson Eyes Another Marvel Star

Ari Aster has picked yet another Marvel star for his next thriller with A24, Scapegoat. Deadline has reported that Jude Law is currently in negotiations to co-star Scarlett Johnasson in the movie. He played the villain Yon-Rogg in the 2019 MCU movie Captain Marvel. Meanwhile, Johansson is a Marvel regular who played the fan-favorite Natasha Romanoff, aka Black Widow.

While Jude Law is still not confirmed for the film, Jacob Elordi is also set to co-star with Johansson in Scapegoat. Most of the details about the project are being kept under wraps.

Scapegoat marks Aster’s follow-up to Eddington, which premiered at Cannes in 2025. Earlier this year, Deadline reported that Johansson agreed to be in the film despite her busy schedule after reading the script. Sources told the outlet that the makers have decided to have a shoot later this year to accommodate her other projects.

That said, there is no solid official information available about her character in the A24 thriller. There is all kinds of speculation, from the movie being a sci-fi romance to a traditional drama. Some even think that it is about a doctor who operates on an internet-famous person. The Hereditary director, who has released his past four films with A24, is teaming up with the studio once again for the distribution of Scapegoat.

Jude Law himself has been quite busy in the last year. He is the face of Disney+’s Star Wars: Skeleton Crew, which premiered its Season 1 on December 2, 2024. Law plays Jod Na Nawood in the series. The show aired eight episodes in Season 1. It has not been officially renewed for another season.

Law was also involved in the Emmy-nominated Netflix series Black Rabbit. In addition, he took on the role of Vladimir Putin in The Wizard of the Kremlin. The busy actor also recently finished filming for a new Nancy Meyers movie. Next, he will be seen in Wild Things, an Apple TV Limited series where he co-stars with Andrew Garfield.
