Seven years after it wrapped up the Infinity Saga, Avengers: Endgame is heading back to theaters on September 25, 2026, as Avengers: Endgame Encore. But this is not just a simple re-release. Marvel Studios has added fresh material that ties the film directly to Avengers: Doomsday, which arrives on December 18.

The new version runs about 185 minutes, roughly four minutes longer than the original cut. Disney confirmed that it includes a special introduction, new footage inside the movie, and an end tag (via Deadline).

Every screening will also feature an exclusive look at Doomsday, with IMAX and Infinity Vision audiences reportedly getting an extra sneak peek. Here is a breakdown of all four new scenes and what they could mean for Doomsday.

Instead of rolling the credits, the film returns to Chris Evans and Hayley Atwell‘s final dance scene, shown from a new angle. A knock interrupts them. Steve hides around the corner while Peggy opens the door and asks, “Can I help you?”

We hear Loki’s voice as he replies, “No, but I can help you,” and steps inside and into the frame. Tom Hiddleston‘s character then adds, “Both of you,” making it clear he knows Cap is there. Steve steps out, and the clip ends.

This scene suggests Steve’s quiet life in the past was never truly safe. Loki, now guarding the timelines, may be warning Cap that his choice to stay behind has put his family at risk, which could explain how Steve ends up back in the fight in Doomsday.

Doctor Doom Comes to Collect Bruce Banner

Set after Spider-Man: Brand New Day, Mark Ruffalo‘s Bruce Banner is in self-containment, testing a new form of gamma control while recording himself. The lights flicker, and we hear Doom’s voice. He announces, “I’m here to collect you.”

Banner hulks out, and we see a green flash fill the room. When the camera falls, both are gone. Latverian symbols are left burned into the floor. Honestly, this one feels like it belonged in Brand New Day.

For Doomsday, this is a big hint about Doom’s plans. He is not just fighting the heroes, but he is gathering powerful players for himself. If Hulk ends up on Doom’s side, even for a while, the Avengers could be facing one of their strongest allies.

The Multiverse Starts Breaking at the TVA

We see Universes 10005 and 1127 begin to collide on the screen at the TVA, followed by incursions involving Universes 3, 100, and 3000. Nearly every major supporting face from Loki shows up, including Owen Wilson‘s Mobius and Ke Huy Quan‘s O.B.

Mobius watches the incursion on the monitor and asks why forecasting didn’t warn them. O.B. grimly answers, “The Multiverse is collapsing”, and the clip cuts.

This scene sets the stakes for Doomsday. Incursions happen when universes crash into each other and wipe each other out. With several realities already falling, the TVA is running out of time, and the few universes left standing may be forced into one last fight for survival.

Doctor Doom Recreates Famous Iron Man Scene

The final surprise comes at the very end of the credits. In a short clip, Doctor Doom is shown hammering his metal mask into shape by hand. Fans will spot the callback right away.

In 2008’s Iron Man, Tony Stark built his first suit in a cave the same way. The original Endgame also ended with nothing but those hammering sounds after the credits, taken from that first Iron Man film. Now, Marvel has given that sound a brand-new meaning.

Since Robert Downey Jr. played Tony and now plays Doom, the scene feels like a deliberate passing of the torch. It suggests Doomsday will lean into the mirror between the two characters, where the man who once saved the universe is now the face of its biggest threat.
