All Fortnite Birthday Event Rewards (& How to Unlock Them)

Fortnite is turning nine, and Epic Games is celebrating with free cosmetics that players can claim simply by jumping into the game and completing a few tasks. The 9th Birthday Event officially began on September 21, 2026, giving fans roughly a week and a half to collect the anniversary rewards before the celebrations come to an end on October 1. Once the birthday festivities wrap up, the game will head straight into the spooky season with the arrival of Fortnitemares.

In that window, there are five separate rewards up for grabs, with three tied to a stacking quest line, one hidden behind a special code, and one reserved for players deep into this season’s Sprite grind.

Epic split this year’s haul into two distinct unlock systems. Three cosmetics come from a single Birthday Quest track that pays out in stages, while the remaining two work independently. These are all the rewards, as well as how to unlock them:

• Choco-9 Cake Back Bling: Finish 3 Birthday Quests
• Cake Crusher Pickaxe: Finish 6 Birthday Quests
• FNCS Sentry Back Bling: Finish all 9 Birthday Quests
• 9th Birthday Sprite Spray: Redeem the code “9YEARS” via the Lobby Hack Admin Panel
• 9th Birthday Skin: Master 28 Sprites during the current season

Quest progress carries over automatically, so hitting three or six completed quests doesn’t reset anything. The Sprite Spray and Skin sit outside of that threshold entirely.

The nine birthday quests are the quickest route to three rewards at once, and most objectives revolve around birthday-themed items that Epic has temporarily added back into matches. Cakes pop up at named spots across the island, and eating a slice tops up health and shield alongside your quest tally.

Other objectives call for tasks like popping balloons, tearing into presents, and greeting the Battle Bus driver, several of which can be done in a single drop.

The two non-quest rewards work differently. For the Sprite Spray, skip the quest menu entirely and open the Lobby Hack Admin Panel from your main lobby screen instead; punching in this event’s specific code (“9YEARS”) there triggers the unlock in seconds, no match required. The Birthday Skin takes considerably longer, since it’s locked behind mastering 28 Sprites, a system tied to the whole season rather than the event. That means any Sprites you’ve already picked up before September 21 still count.
