Durham Regional Police said officers were called to Landmark Cinemas at 75 Consumers Dr. around 12:40 a.m. on Sunday, Oct. 25, after reports of an armed person.

They arrived to find the teen suffering from a serious cut to his arm.

Investigators alleged that the boy had gone to the theatre to meet a girl he knew through social media when he was approached by a group of youths who demanded his jacket.

When he refused to hand over his belongings, one of the suspects allegedly pulled out a machete and struck him in the arm. The group then assaulted the teen before taking his jacket and cash.
