Seven of Nine made her debut in Star Trek: Voyager 21 years ago and became one of the most popular characters in the franchise. As a former Borg drone, the character had to unlearn most of her philosophies to fit into the Federation way of life, but her character growth made her one of the most endearing characters. Now, she is back.
Seven is the main character in the IDW comic Star Trek (2026), and its second issue will be out on November 18, 2026 (via PRH Comics). The comic follows her adventures as the Captain of the USS Enterprise-G and her crew. It is an incredible growth for the character who was part of the enemy in the beginning.
Seven of Nine is Back in Star Trek After Voyager and Picard
Seven of Nine in Star Trek (2026) | Credits: IDWJeri Ryan’s time in Voyager has long been branded with many reasons. It is common knowledge that the show wanted to attract its male, adolescent audience and hence brought in Ryan’s Seven of Nine as the show’s central eye candy. This also led her to be in conflict with the series lead, Kate Mulgrew. However, her arc from a Borg drone to a Captain of a Starship has moved her beyond this surface-level creation.
Seven became an irreplaceable part of Star Trek lore and became a main character as the episodes progressed in Voyager. Years later, she was one of the few legacy characters to return to the franchise in its streaming era, making appearances in Star Trek: Picard, the sequel to the most successful show from the franchise, The Next Generation.
The show saw her grow from being just a crew member to joining the Fenris Rangers, and to finally becoming a Starfleet captain. The Star Trek (2026) flagship comic from IDW Publishing continues her journey from Picard and sees her adventures aboard the Enterprise-G, with her first officer Jack Crusher.
The comic sees Seven and her crew go on a mission to rescue Avuran refugees and transport them to a new home. They find three perfect worlds in a galaxy, but each world proves to be a task for the crew as they encounter physics problems that make it difficult to place the Avurans. The second issue of the comic is due to be out in November, and the story is quite exciting.
Seven of Nine was Back in Voyager Universe with Across the Unknown
Jeri Ryan in Star Trek: Voyager | Credits: ParamountSeven of Nine has become one of the most popular characters in the Star Trek franchise. Her costumes, her eye device, and her overall journey have become iconic, and as the franchise celebrates its 60th anniversary, there is no doubt that these popular characters from the golden era of the franchise are making a comeback.
Before her adventures as captain continued in Star Trek (2026), Seven came back to the Voyager universe in the strategy game Star Trek: Across the Unknown. Released in February 2026, the game is set on the USS Voyager as it is headed by Captain Kathryn Janeway and is stranded in the Delta Quadrant.
Players have to navigate the path back to Earth and can play as multiple other crew members on the ship, including Seven of Nine. The best part is that the characters can make decisions the way the player intends to and not as they were written in the original show. This adds another layer of depth to the characters, and more information can be learned about them.
Seven of Nine and actress Jeri Ryan have been irreplaceable in the Star Trek franchise. Though she is not part of the Original Series crew or part of The Next Generation, both more popular than other shows in the franchise, she became iconic to fans. The comic and the game are just ways to further her legacy, just as the upcoming Deep Space Nine-based graphic novel by Timothy Zahn is set to expand the show’s legacy.
