‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ Leaked Trailer: Sony Spills Major Reveals After Critical Failure

A second trailer for Spider-Man: Brand New Day was leaked onto multiple social media and video-sharing platforms a week before its scheduled release, prompting the studio to act quickly against copyright infringement across various platforms. The leak was widespread and revealed the identities of characters whose appearances had been hinted at for some time, as well as plot points that had previously remained speculative.

The leak came just ahead of the film’s scheduled release date of July 31, 2026. It overshadowed the social media buzz already surrounding one of the most highly anticipated MCU releases of Phase Six: the franchise’s 38th film and the fourth standalone Spider-Man movie starring Tom Holland, following Spider-Man: No Way Home in 2021.

The leaked footage features several major story reveals well beyond anything Sony had previously released. The highlight is Savage Hulk’s appearance. Peter Parker says, “Okay, I didn’t know you could get that big,” as Holland’s Parker reacts to Hulk’s arrival, with Mark Ruffalo’s Bruce Banner confirmed to return.

The trailer also shows a physical alteration in Parker’s body, as organic web-shooters begin to emerge — the start of a mutation that pushes what has largely been a kid-friendly fantasy franchise toward the edge of body horror. In another early scene set inside a prison, Spider-Man is shown fighting Hand ninjas, despite earlier trailers misleadingly suggesting that he was involved in an aerial battle.

Jon Bernthal’s Frank Castle / Punisher is also seen alongside Parker, as is Sadie Sink’s as-yet-unnamed character, whom various sources have reported to possess telepathic powers same as Jean Grey. The film takes place four years after No Way Home. Parker is still living under the radar in New York City as a full-time crime fighter whose identity has been erased from the world.

Commissioned by Columbia Pictures, Marvel Studios, and Pascal Pictures, the film is directed by Destin Daniel Cretton and co-written by Chris McKenna, Erik Sommers, and Justin Kuritzkes. Tom Holland stars in the lead role, with Zendaya, Sadie Sink, Jacob Batalon, Jon Bernthal, Mark Ruffalo, Tramell Tillman, and Michael Mando in supporting roles. The film is being released by Sony Pictures Releasing.
