Marvel Rivals Season 8.5 Roadmap Breakdown: New Events, Skins, and More

Marvel Rivals Season 8.5 arrives on June 12, and NetEase has already revealed everything planned through July 10. Between Cyclops finally joining the roster, a new map and game mode, Summer Festival events, returning cosmetics, and several weeks of swimsuit-themed content, the second half of Season 8 is undoubtedly more packed than the first.

Much like previous roadmap cycles, the update opens with most of its gameplay additions on day one, then shifts toward events, social features, and cosmetics over the following weeks. On that note, here’s everything coming to Marvel Rivals Season 8.5 before Season 9 arrives next month.

Marvel Rivals Season 8.5: June 12 Content Drop

Season 8.5 officially launches on June 12 and, unsurprisingly, this is where most of the gameplay-focused content is concentrated. Cyclops finally joins the roster after months of teasers, while the new K’un-Lun: Shenlong Arena map introduces Bounty Annihilation, the game’s new 18v18 mode.

Cyclops is obviously the headline addition here. He is now confirmed to be a Duelist, putting an end to months of speculation over whether the X-Men leader would join the role or help bolster the Vanguard or Strategist roster instead.

On the other hand, the Shenlong Tournament event also includes the new Epic skin for Groot, Ironwood Serpent, as a free reward, which might be enough on its own to convince plenty of Groot players to complete the event.

Meanwhile, the return of the 616 Vault may end up being just as important for longtime players. The feature brings back previously unavailable limited-time content from earlier seasons, giving newer players another chance to pick up cosmetics they may have missed the first time around. The vault will be available from June 12 through June 26.

Marvel Rivals Season 8.5: June 19 Content Drop

The second week of Season 8.5 shifts away from gameplay additions and focuses almost entirely on this year’s summer-themed event content.

Hellfire Bay Beach will become the game’s second social hub alongside Times Square, giving players another place to hang out outside of matches. It’s also where much of the Summer Festival content appears to be centered.

The Summer Festival ’26 update looks fairly generous on the rewards front, too. X-Press Juice includes its own missions and daily login rewards, with up to 2,500 free Units up for grabs throughout the event (via YouTube). With several highly anticipated internet-breaking cosmetics arriving over the course of Season 8.5, that’s more than a welcome addition.

Meanwhile, the Krakoan Reels Event Pass includes swimsuit-themed costumes for Spider-Man, Cloak & Dagger, and Mister Fantastic, as shown in the latest Dev Vision Vol. 18. If previous event passes are anything to go by, one of those skins will be obtainable without spending any Lattice.

Marvel Rivals Season 8.5: June 26 Content Drop

The third week of Season 8.5 is a smaller update, though it continues the Summer Festival rollout with another pair of themed costumes and a mysterious live event scheduled for later in the week.

And on June 28:

• New Event: Uplifting Welcome (00:00 UTC)

NetEase hasn’t shared many details about Uplifting Welcome yet, but it appears to be tied to the new Hellfire Bay Beach social map. The setup feels similar to the New Year’s countdown celebration in Times Square earlier this year, suggesting players may want to log in and take a look to see what happens when the event goes live.

Marvel Rivals Season 8.5: July 3 Content Drop

The final weekly content update of Season 8.5 is also the lightest one. As has often been the case with the last patch before a new season arrives, NetEase is keeping the focus on cosmetics rather than introducing any new gameplay content:

By this point, there’s no denying what the dominant theme of Season 8.5 has been. Between Emma Frost, Doctor Strange, Black Widow, Daredevil, Lady Loki, White Fox, Captain America, and the skins included in the Krakoan Reels Event Pass, NetEase’s artists have been busy, and NetEase is certainly making sure players have plenty of opportunities to part ways with their Units this summer.

The wait for what’s next shouldn’t be particularly long either. With Season 9 launching on July 10, the marketing cycle for the next season will begin shortly after this final S8.5 content drop.

Marvel Rivals July 10 Update: Season 9 Goes Live

Season 8.5 officially comes to an end on July 10 with the launch of Season 9. While NetEase hasn’t revealed what’s next yet, players probably won’t have to wait until launch week for the first clues. Previous seasons have established a fairly consistent marketing schedule, with major reveals typically beginning a few days before the full update arrives.

If that pattern continues, the first substantial Season 9 announcement could arrive as early as July 7, followed by a Dev Vision episode, hero trailer, and the rest of the usual reveal cycle in the days leading up to launch.

Until then, the Marvel Rivals community will do what it always does: dissect every gallery card, lore entry, and suspiciously specific piece of flavor text NetEase slips into Season 8.5 in search of clues about what’s next. Half the excitement of a new season comes from trying to solve the mystery before the developers officially pull back the curtain, after all:
