If you thought the formula for writing villains has gotten repetitive in modern Shonen, then Petals of Reincarnation may change your perspective. Not only has it blurred the boundary between what can and cannot be shown in a series, but it has done so pretty convincingly.

Petals of Reincarnation separates the Returners into two major factions: the Forest of Greats and the Sinners. Now, as the series’ power system explains, Sinners are basically the reincarnations of notorious historical figures, who are presented as envoys of chaos and destruction.

Though Desalvo may rank 10th, that does not mean he is any less scary. With his Talent, “Strangler,” he can crush any object. His grip strength is so strong that even concrete looks like clay in his hands. He can even make his body so durable that grenades do not affect him!

9 Ed Gein Plays With His Pray With the Talent, Bodily Dismemberment

Edward Theodore Gein’s Talent in the series is as scary as it sounds. Named “Bodily Dismemberment,” it allows Gein to obtain any weapon from his target and use it at will. His appearance in the series comes quite early, so the terror can be felt firsthand.

Using his Talent, he can disassemble and dismantle human bodies. Essentially, he can create corpses on his own, and that is where he takes the most pleasure.

8 Albert Fish Possesses Superhuman Strength With Muscle Projection

One of the weirdest Talents in terms of appearance is what Albert Fish possesses, called “Muscle Projection.” What it does is essentially awaken his hunger to eat or consume. But what does he eat exactly? Other humans. Basically, cannibalism. And by doing so, his strength increases exponentially, which can be noticed through the growth of his muscles.

7 Everything That Pol Pot Touches Falls Into Corruption and Decay

As one of the founding members of the Sinners, Pol Pot is not someone you would want to face under any circumstances. With his Talent, “Fruit of Corruption,” anything he touches starts to rot. Well, he does not even have to touch directly, to be honest.

Anything within 50 meters of his current location can be affected, as he can send out aura waves that rot the target. His power is shown to work on living beings, plants, and even metals!

6 Hans Ulrich Rudel’s Immortality Increases His Overall Fire Power

How can you defeat someone who is immortal? Thanks to his Talent, “Phoenix,” Hans Ulrich Rudel is basically incapable of dying in a conventional sense, no matter the attack. He can even use the weapons he has used in his past lives.

Furthermore, his ability allows him to control a fighter plane’s machine guns and bombs. In one instance, he was also shown using a Ju 87 bomber, dropping it against his enemies.

5 Nostradamus’ Future Foresight Puts Him in a Whole New League

Naturally, Nostradamus acts as the counselor of the Sinners, mainly because of his Talent, “The Great Prophecy.” Essentially, it allows him to predict the future accurately. Using that information, he can turn the tide of any battle strategically. He also possesses the Tome of Prophecy.

It is like a notebook where prophecies appear, and he can even manipulate the events written in it to affect the future. Well, does that not sound too strong? Because it is.

4 With the Talent Enigma, Adolf Hitler Maintains His Omnipresence

After Nostradamus, we have another master strategist, Adolf Hitler. His Talent in the series is termed “Master Mind.” It essentially allows him to control the vision of anyone with a certain symbol on them, whether allies or foes. This way, surveillance over the battlefield is maintained.

Another Talent he has is “Mein Kampf.” Using it, Hitler can even take control of the body of any Returner who bears that symbol. He can then use their Talent to its highest potential.

3 Caesar Is Nearly Untouchable With His Talent, The Hero’s Testament

Even as a reincarnation of a Great, Caesar joins the Sinners and is one of their founding members. His Talent, “Hero’s Testament,” gives him unfathomable awareness throughout, and he can even summon and utilize any weapon in existence with maximum proficiency.

His other Talent, “Pygmalion,” allows him to command up to 1,000 individuals, but they have to be his allies. So, he maintains a friendly personality around everyone. With these two abilities, Caesar’s influence on the storyline has been huge.

2 Corday’s Talent Guarantees Her Kill, But With a Great Price to Pay

Mostly a sidekick of Kouu, Charlotte Corday can be considered one of the strongest on the list, because she has a 100% guarantee of a kill once she locks onto a target. However, in the process, she will also have to die. Her Talent, “Angel of Assassination,” works in that way.

But her second Talent adds an interesting twist. If she locks onto a target, then that target cannot be killed until she dies. So basically, she can even grant others a form of near-immortality thanks to her ability.

1 Xiang Yu’s Overpowered Talent Makes Him Series’ Prime Antagonist

Although primarily known as Kouu in the storyline, he is actually the host for the Returner, Xiang Yu, also known as the Tyrant King. In fact, he is the founder and leader of the Sinners, so it is only natural that he serves as the main antagonist of the story.

But why is he so powerful? Kouu can control almost everything that exists with his battle aura. His enemies, objects, and even the entire planet can be manipulated if he wishes, by engulfing them in his dark aura. Additionally, his second Talent, “Black Death of Harmony,” can elongate and compress anything down to the atomic level. So it essentially works like a miniature Big Bang.
