Sylvester Stallone’s action franchise with Arnold Schwarzenegger is finding new life on streaming, as Escape Plan 2 gains traction on Netflix. The 2018 film, directed by Steven C. Miller, is currently seeing renewed attention, landing in the 9th spot on Netflix’s Global Top 10, as of April 23, 2026.

Additionally, according to FlixPatrol, it is also ranking at number 6 among the most-watched movies worldwide on the streaming platform. Escape Plan 2 is the second film in the series, which first introduced Stallone as security expert Ray Breslin alongside Schwarzenegger.

In the sequel, Stallone returns as Breslin, who leads a team that tests prison security systems. When one of his operatives, Shu Ren, is kidnapped and trapped in a high-tech prison called HADES, Breslin gets himself captured to break in. Together, they work to outsmart the system and escape. The film received negative reviews upon release, and Stallone himself was notably critical of the movie.

Escape Plan 2: Hades faced heavy criticism upon its release, with many reviewers calling it a confusing and poorly executed sequel that lacked the tension and cleverness of the original film. Critics were not alone in their reaction, as Sylvester Stallone himself strongly criticized the movie.

Ahead of the release of the third installment, Escape Plan: The Extractors, Stallone shared an Instagram post, stating, “Escape Plan 2 WAS TRULY THE MOST HORRIBLY PRODUCED FILM I have ever had the misfortune to be in,” making his feelings about the sequel clear.
