Petals of Reincarnation Episode 4 Review: The Hype Didn’t Disappoint At All

3 hours ago 4

Petals of Reincarnation Episode 4 was one hell of a ride. Not only did it amp up the hype of the anime, but its narrative presentation was also quite well done. Right from the get-go, that little conversation between Funasaka and Touya really raised the tension, especially with Funasaka’s monologues.

Now that he knows about Touya’s goal, would he let Neumann know about it? I am excited to see where it goes, but only if he can make it alive. Because only a few Greats will be able to return after the clash between the Greats and the Sinners. In fact, many Great-class Returners have already died in the episode.

Also, thanks to Einstein, we got to know that some of the Greats have even sided with the Sinners. Even their former leader (before Neumann), Xiang Yu, joined the Sinners. Something is surely wrong, and we just do not know yet. Anyway, let me get into the details of everything else that happened in Episode 4.

Each Great vs Sinner Match-Up Cranked Up the Adrenaline

The matchups we had in today’s episode really had me hyped. First, it was the fight between Funasaka and Hans Rudel. Since they both possess immortality powers, the fight really went on for a long time (it did not even end by the end of the episode). Also, wasn’t it a shock to see Rudel as one of the Sinners?

The same goes for Hathcock. However, his matchup against Simo Hayha was one of the coolest. Both are snipers, after all. Hayha had the advantage at first because of his skill that allows him to turn the battlefield in his favor. However, in the latter half of the fight, the tables turned. Hathcock made the field identical to the jungle from the Vietnam War. Now what will Hayha do?

As for the biggest highlight of the episode, we had Hitler facing many of the Greats. Actually, you know what, it would be better to talk about their fight under a separate subheading.

Half of the Greats Were Wiped Out Against This Little Fella!

The reincarnation of Hitler, with the help of the Branch of Reincarnation, gave a tough time to many of the Greats. But they only managed to do so by siding with Pol Pot, who can literally rot anything he touches. So things do not look good for our heroes. Several Greats could not even make it out alive.

Fabre, Darwin, Schrodinger, and Fischer were all defeated by Hitler and Pol Pot. So who remained? Only Newton and a rather timid Einstein. And as smart as we know Newton is, he managed to figure out Hitler’s strategy. But will it help, though? Probably not!

Basically, Hitler was controlling every living being around the area like a surveillance system with his Talent, Mastermind. That is why they knew every Great’s whereabouts. Also, thanks to their connection with the former leader of the Greats, they knew about everyone’s talents and weaknesses as well. Thus, it became really hard for the Greats to counter them.

Now, after building all that up, the episode just ended, which was a little disappointing to be honest. But overall, it only hyped things up even more to see what happens in the next episode, right?

Petals of Reincarnation Episode 4: Final Verdict

Every minute of Episode 4 kept me invested. There was not a moment that I could point out and say it should not have been done this way. Even the potentially controversial parts are portrayed quite neutrally, without showcasing much of the explicit content from the manga.

Thus, today’s Petals of Reincarnation episode easily deserves a high rating. I must say its art style and animation may not be top tier, but even in this episode, it always appears quite unique compared to many seasonal anime. Thus, I enjoyed every bit of it, and the opening and ending sequences are just as good.
