Crimson Desert just got another update with Version 1.04.00, and this new patch has given us new pets, including birds you can bond with and summon. Of course, all our attention is immediately on Phoenix, which is the legendary mount and now pet, which not only looks incredible but also helps with looting.

But one thing you should know is that getting the Phoenix as a pet isn’t as simple as finding and taming a regular animal. You’ll have to find the legendary creature, deal with some unusual mechanics, and craft a special item. Here’s a complete breakdown of how to get and summon the Phoenix in Crimson Desert.

Where to Find the Phoenix in Crimson Desert and How to Get Phoenix Feathers

The Phoenix is a Legendary Creature located in the far northeastern region of the Crimson Desert map, specifically just south of the Trader Expanse. This area is filled with rocky terrain and tall stone formations, so you might have a hard time spotting the Phoenix.

You’ll know you’ve found the Phoenix when you spot a large, glowing bird flying through the sky, surrounded by a flock of smaller birds. These smaller birds scatter as soon as you attack the Phoenix itself, but make sure you track the main target properly.

Before you can tame the Phoenix, you’ll have to defeat it. Most of the standard melee weapons are annoying to use, and the fight may feel buggy or unreliable. One thing you can do is use special abilities like the Blackstar (Dragon) fireball attack and other special ranged abilities.

If you manage to bring it down, you’ll be able to skin the bird and get Phoenix Feathers, which you can use for unlocking the pet. One thing to note is that the Phoenix doesn’t always spawn exactly at its marked location, so you may need to search nearby areas if it doesn’t appear right away.

Once you’ve secured Phoenix Feathers, the next step is crafting the item that unlocks the pet.

Head to any Witch NPC and open the crafting menu. Here, you’ll find a special item (commonly referred to as a Phoenix Sigil) that can be crafted using the feathers you collected. After crafting it, simply use the item from your inventory to unlock the Phoenix as a pet.

From there, the process is straightforward:

• Open your pets menu
• Select the Phoenix
• Summon it whenever you like

Your Phoenix will perch on your arm and function similarly to other pets, automatically looting items from defeated enemies. This makes it both a cosmetic flex and a practical companion during exploration and combat.

You’ll probably be able to ride the Phoenix soon. The new update included some bugs, which have led to the legendary mounts being disabled. Once the developers push out a fix, you’ll be able to ride the Phoenix.

We really didn’t need new pets in Crimson Desert, but the devs have given them to us anyway. And we’re not saying no to free content. The Phoenix is easily one of the most unique pets in the game, and well worth the effort for players willing to chase it down.
