1 Where Did the Creatures Come From?

It was later revealed in a flashback scene that during a clean-up of the remains of the Upside Down in Hawkins, one of the scientists took some parts and experimented on them using different serums. While most of these failed to revive them, the last one successfully brought it back to life.

2 Who Created the Queen Monster?

The latter episodes seemingly hinted at Anna Baxter being the culprit behind the creation of these monsters, as Dustin slowly put the pieces together. The presence of the tapes at her house, too, was solid evidence, but it turns out she was not the person who created these monsters.

Yes, it was Daniel Fischer, her partner and a former employee of Hawkins Lab, who created a serum that could help in regenerating species. He was devastated that years of his work went to nothing after the portal was closed and the lab shut down. He began his experiment in hopes of achieving a scientific breakthrough.

Apparently, the monsters are addicted to the serum, and so if they smell it anywhere, they will follow its scent.

3 Did Eleven & The Party Defeat the Queen Monster?

The showdown in the underground witnessed a lot of critical moments, including Eleven defeating the Queen monster and closing the Gate, Nikki Baxter providing valuable support in killing the creature using her weapon, and Daniel choosing to save the serum instead of helping Will, which ultimately caused his death as the Queen devoured him.

The group’s collaborative effort helped put an end to the Queen’s rampage and bring back peace and quiet to Hawkins, at least for the time being. The show ended with Nikki and her mother finding a new home, transforming the garage into a place for the gang to play Dungeons and Dragons.

The strongest clue for a potential follow-up story appears in the final scene, where a mysterious blue flower begins to sprout from the Queen’s dead body in the Upside Down. It is highly possible that even though the creature is dead, it can still regenerate and form another species that is much stronger and more dangerous.

It’s also possible that this flower has evolved into a hybrid, perhaps of the creature and Daniel, who was consumed by the Queen before El killed her. What this tells us is that there are more rooms to explore in this side of the franchise that don’t need to be strictly bound to the original storyline.
