In the world of anime crossovers, what if the Straw Hat Pirates from One Piece crashed the Thousand Sunny in the Naruto-verse and were confronted by the Akatsuki? On one hand, you have powers like Haki and Devil Fruits, and on the other, you have the entire Chakra system and Dojutsu techniques – who’d win the 1v1 battles?
Without further ado, let’s get right into it. Here are the possible results of 1v1 battles between the Straw Hats and the Akatsuki, ranked by the character’s position and the intensity of the battles. It’s worth noting that we did not include Orochimaru or Team Taka in this list, as they were temporary members and didn’t really represent the Akatsuki’s model.

10 Jinbe Will Have No Answer to Obito’s Phasing and Space-Time Hacks
Tobi (Obito Uchiha) from Naruto: Shippuden | Credits: Studio PierrotTo start, a 1v1 between the Straw Hats’ helmsman Jinbe and the Akatsuki’s Tobi (Obito Uchiha) would probably be the most anticlimactic battle in the series. Yes, Jinbe can fight, and his Fishman Karate will likely take out even proficient Taijutsu experts from the Naruto-verse, but it would barely scratch the surface against Tobi.
No matter how many punches Jinbe throws, Tobi will likely dodge them easily and wouldn’t even have to raise a finger before the former Warlord tires himself out. To end things, Tobi could simply Kamui Jinbe into his dimension; it was a one-sided battle to begin with.
9 Brook’s Speed and Soul Attacks Can Outmatch Zetsu’s Gimmicks
Brook from One Piece | Credits: Toei AnimationIt would be an understatement to call Brook the Straw Hat Pirates‘ “musician” only. He’s fast and delivers a lethal strike, and unfortunately, Zetsu might be on his radar. We all know Zetsu’s powers are based on vegetation – whether it be his Wood Release or his Parasite Clone – unfortunately, nothing works on Brook.
For starters, where could the parasites even drain Chakra from? Brook is literally a skeleton. And secondly, Brook would just easily freeze whatever Wood Release Zetsu throws at him. And if the latter wants to shapeshift and deceive the Straw Hat, Brooks’s observations and movements are just too fast to be fooled that easily.
8 Even Robin’s Devil Fruit Will Fail Against Kakuzu’s Five Lives
Kakuzu from Naruto: Shippuden | Credit: Studio PierrotNo matter how hard Nico Robin tries to clutch with her Hana Hana no Mi, can you really grab something easily detachable and made out of strings? That’s the situation she’ll face going up against the Akatsuki’s oldest member, Kakuzu. To make matters worse, it’s a battle she is “destined” to lose.
To give her a fighting chance, Robin is probably the only member who can even get close to touching all 5 hearts Kakuzu has, but as if the latter will wait for her to do that. To top that, he’s an S-Rank who can withstand otherwise fatal attacks with ease, putting Robin in an unfavourable situation.
7 Franky Can Brute Force Through Sasori’s Poisonous Puppets
Franky from One Piece | Credits: Toei AnimationIn the world of Pokémon, we call something like this a type disadvantage. Let’s lay out all the facts on the table: Franky is a cyborg with almost every part of his body made of steel or other materials, whereas Sasori’s attacks heavily rely on the use of poison. The day poison can corrode steel, Sasori wins; but until that day, it’s Franky’s game.
No matter how many puppets Sasori produces, they can at most bruise Franky a little, but never deliver anything that can be called fatal or lethal. The attacks will literally bounce off the Straw Hat Pirates’ shipwright, and if by any chance he reaches Sasori and grabs his heart, it’s game over.
6 Hidan Wins by a Mile Unless Chopper Figures Out the Jashin Ritual
Hidan from Naruto: Shippuden | Credits: Studio PierrotHidan is one of the toughest Akatsuki members to take down from the Naruto-verse, and poor Tony Tony Chopper finds himself in a 1v1 against him. See, Chopper is a doctor, but he also has what it takes to give a good fight, especially with the help of his Rumble Balls, but this is Hidan we’re talking about.
Unless Chopper has something lying in his little bag that can reverse immortality or a book explaining the limitations of the Jashin ritual, it’s a heavily one-sided bout. No matter how hard he tries, Hidan is always winning by a mile – it’s sad to say that Chopper probably has the most useless Devil Fruit out of the bunch.
5 Deidara Will Surely Defeat Usopp in Creativity and Ranged Attacks
Deidara from Naruto: Shippuden | Credits: Studio PierrotDeidara vs Usopp is a battle of creativity and marksmanship: one with the power of explosion, and the other with his massive slingshot. If Usopp really puts his mind to it, and when he is not running away, he can really come up with some creative ideas to corner Deidara. That’s the issue here, cornering Deidara.
Where Usopp can surely strike him with his versatility of attacks, Deidara’s “Art is an Explosion!” The latter can blow up Usopp as many times as he wants without any repercussions. Furthermore, if things get sticky, there is the human C4 attack in Deidara’s arsenal; although we highly doubt he’ll need it.
4 Nami’s Thunder Will Likely Electrocute Konan’s Wet Origami
Nami from One Piece | Credits: Toei AnimationWe bet many of you already saw this coming: Nami vs Konan was bound to happen if the One Piece and Naruto universes were to collide. But what you likely didn’t see coming was Nami winning against Konan in the 1v1 battle, all thanks to her Sorcery Clima-Tact.
While performing her Ninjutsu techniques, Konan’s body becomes completely made out of paper, and even her attacks are paper-based Origami she creates. There are two ways the battle’s outcome is decided, and Nami wins in both. One, she can use her Heat Balls to burn Konan to a crisp. The longer way would be a combination of the Rain and Thunderbolt Tempo: Konan is fried with high-voltage electricity.
3 Sanji’s Speed Is Enough to Avoid Kisame’s Chakra-Draining Sword
Sanji from One Piece | Credits: Toei AnimationHonestly, this one can go both ways, but Sanji has an advantage over Kisame no matter what. Kisame is a really powerful monster who can trap his opponents in a water dome to finish the job. But here’s the catch: Sanji fights in the air almost every time, so trapping someone who isn’t grounded is really a tough task.
Let’s bring in Samehada into the mix. Samehada absorbs Chakra and helps Kisame regenerate, but Sanji doesn’t use Chakra; he has Haki. Even if we level the fundamentals of Chakra and Haki, Sanji is still a strong physical fighter without Haki. We doubt it will even come to that, using Observation and Armament Haki, Sanji dodges Kisame’s attacks and lands an Ifrit Jambe; game over.
2 Itachi Wins Against Zoro Unless Haki Provides Genjutsu Resistance
Itachi Uchiha from Naruto | Credit: Studio PierrotYou may hate us for this one: there is absolutely no way Roronoa Zoro wins against Itachi Uchiha. Zoro can pull out every attack in his arsenal and use as much Haki as he wants – once you’re trapped in Itachi’s Genjutsu, it’s pretty much done. Zoro probably won’t even realize when he was trapped in the Genjutsu to begin with.
Well, we’ve seen how Kishimoto bent narrative and plot for his golden child, so we can also do that to give Zoro a chance. The only way Zoro can win is if Haki provides Genjutsu resistance; if not, there’s no point in continuing this conversation. Itachi walks the victor while Zoro continues fighting in a make-belief world.
1 Luffy’s Unpredictability Might Give Him the Edge Over Pain
There are a lot of factors to consider when we’re putting Monkey D. Luffy and Pain in a 1v1 battle – the island is getting destroyed for sure. Pain has several attacks in his arsenal, especially with his Six Paths of Pain – from summoning to regeneration to literally dropping planetary-sized boulders. But what gives Luffy the edge over him is his unpredictable nature and god-embodiment Devil Fruit powers.
No matter how hard Pain tries, once Luffy enters his Gear 5, there is no chance of winning for the Akatsuki leader. The literal ground that Pain is standing on becomes Luffy’s domain of manipulation. A blown-up punch, coated with Armament Haki or the colour of the Supreme King, will wipe out all his clones out of existence, leaving only poor Nagato behind to join their fate.
| RANKING | THE 1v1 BATTLES | WHO LIKELY WINS? |
| 10 | Jinbe vs Tobi (Obito Uchiha) | Tobi |
| 9 | Brook vs Zetsu | Brook |
| 8 | Nico Robin vs Kakuzu | Kakuzu |
| 7 | Franky vs Sasori | Franky |
| 6 | Hidan vs Tony Tony Chopper | Hidan |
| 5 | Deidara vs Usopp | Deidara |
| 4 | Nami vs Konan | Nami |
| 3 | Sanji vs Kisame Hoshigaki | Sanji |
| 2 | Roronoa Zoro vs Itachi Uchiha | Itachi Uchiha |
| 1 | Monkey D. Luffy vs Pain | Monkey D. Luffy |
