One Piece Officially Reveals Another Legendary God That Rivals Joy Boy

Eiichiro Oda’s One Piece has spent years building the mystery around gods, legends, and the forgotten history of the world. Now, the Elbaf Arc has added another major piece to that puzzle. Chapter 1175 from the recent Elbaf arc revealed the legend of an ancient God of War who once fought the Sun God and wielded the legendary hammer Ragnir.

The reveal is especially interesting because this God of War was also connected to Nidhoggr, the very same Mythical Zoan Devil Fruit now possessed by Loki. That connection gives Loki, Ragnir, and Elbaf’s ancient history a much bigger role in the Final Saga.

One Piece Reveals Elbaf’s Ancient God of War Who Once Fought Nika

Chapter 1175 of One Piece expanded Elbaf’s mythology by revealing the story of a legendary God of War. According to Jarul’s account, this ancient warrior wielded Ragnir and could transform into an enormous dragon after eating the Mythical Zoan-type Devil Fruit, Dragon-Dragon Fruit, Model: Nidhoggr. The warrior was also accompanied by a loyal ice squirrel named Ratatoskr.

The most striking part of the legend is the battle itself. The God of War transformed into the gigantic Nidhoggr and went against the Sun God. This creates an intriguing parallel with the present story, where Luffy has become the modern figure associated with Nika, the Sun God and Warrior of Liberation. The manga has not confirmed that the ancient Sun God was Joy Boy.

Still, the connection is hard to ignore. Joy Boy carried the legacy of Nika during the Void Century, while Elbaf’s legend appears to come from a much older period. That suggests Oda may be showing that the conflict between these divine figures has roots far deeper than the story’s known 800-year history.

Ragnir makes the legend even more important. After the God of War’s death, Ratatoskr’s spirit was said to have entered the hammer, allowing it to continue guarding the Nidhoggr Devil Fruit until someone worthy appeared. Ragnir eventually chose Loki, linking the ancient God of War directly to the current Elbaf conflict.

Loki’s connection to this ancient legend makes his role in the Final Saga much more interesting. He is not simply another powerful Giant who happens to possess a rare Devil Fruit. He has inherited the same Nidhoggr power once used by the God of War, while Ragnir has also accepted him as its new wielder.

That creates a striking contrast with Luffy. The ancient God of War and Sun God once stood against each other, but their modern successors are now on the same side of the battle in Elbaf. Luffy carries Nika’s power, while Loki carries Nidhoggr and Ragnir.

There is also a bigger reason this matters. Imu immediately recognizes Nidhoggr when Loki reveals his dragon form against him in One Piece Chapter 1181, showing that the ancient power is not merely an Elbaf bedtime story. Its history reaches into the deepest parts of the world’s forgotten past.

With Luffy carrying the legacy of Nika and Loki carrying the legacy of the God of War, One Piece may be setting up a fascinating reversal of an ancient conflict. Instead of fighting each other, these two powers could now stand together against Imu. If that happens, the Elbaf legend may become much more than ancient mythology, and it could become a major clue to how the Final Saga ends.
