Season 1 was released in April this year, and after spending its first season peeling back the emotional walls surrounding four painfully complicated teenagers, the 2026 anime is officially returning for Season 2. The Ramparts of Ice Season 2 Set to Release on Netflix
The Ramparts of Ice Season 2 will premiere in Japan on October 1, 2026, with new episodes airing weekly on TBS and its 28 affiliated stations. For international viewers, Netflix will begin streaming on October 1, with episodes arriving weekly.
Season 2 will air every Thursday at 11:56 p.m. JST, beginning October 1, with a simultaneous nationwide broadcast across 28 TBS network stations. On Netflix, the episodes can be expected to roll out an hour later as usual. So, keep an eye out on your streamer.

Netflix officially unveiled the Season 2 key art and first trailer on August 27, showing Koyuki Hikawa, Miki Azumi, Minato Amamiya, and Yota Hino together in a classroom.
The returning cast includes Anna Nagase as Koyuki, Fuka Izumi as Miki, Shoya Chiba as Minato, and Satoshi Inomata as Yota, alongside the supporting cast. Studio KAI is again handling animation, with Mankyū directing and Yasuhiro Nakanishi overseeing series composition. The new season will also feature THE BEAT GARDEN’s “Escort” as its opening theme and Superfly’s “Hanakage” as its ending theme.

Koyuki’s isolation affects her friendships. Friendship affects romance. Romance affects the group. One person’s hesitation can completely change someone else’s understanding of a relationship. That makes Season 2’s officially revealed premise particularly interesting.
The Season 1 finale aired on July 2, 2026. The new season continues the story of Koyuki and Minato as their relationship develops beyond friendship, while Yota’s confession to Miki introduces another emotional fault line. The first Season 2 trailer also specifically hints at developments involving Koyuki, Minato, and Momoka Kuriki, suggesting that the romantic dynamics will become even more complicated.
But the series’ real strength is smaller than the statistics. It is in the pauses, misunderstandings, awkward conversations, and tiny changes in how one character looks at another. Koyuki’s “ice wall” is not simply a romantic obstacle; it represents the defensive habits people build when being close to others feels dangerous.
That is what makes the anime such a compelling coming-of-age story in 2026. Growing up here does not mean suddenly becoming confident or figuring out love. It means discovering that opening yourself up can be frightening, and that even people who care about you can still misunderstand you. Season 2 is now ready to push those fragile connections further.
The manga itself has an unusually interesting history. Agasawa originally developed The Ramparts of Ice as a vertical-scroll web manga before it was serialized on LINE Manga. Shueisha later published the completed story in 14 collected volumes. By August 2025, Netflix reported that the manga had accumulated more than 160 million views on LINE Manga, while its print circulation, including digital editions, had surpassed 1.94 million copies.
