Since Gear 5 first appeared during the Wano Arc, Luffy has created several powerful techniques. Some rely on raw strength, while others show just how creative he can be. With that said, here are Luffy’s five strongest Gear 5 attacks, ranked from powerful to completely devastating.

5 Dawn Thor Rifle Turns Lightning Into a Haki-Fueled Punch

Dawn Thor Rifle is one of the strongest Gear 5 attacks, and it shows that Luffy is still finding new ways to use his powers. In the Elbaf Arc, Luffy uses lightning created by Loki and turns it into part of a massive punch. The attack is aimed at Shepherd Sommers and shows just how dangerous Luffy has become in the Final Saga.

Still, compared with the attacks higher on this list, Dawn Thor Rifle has not yet shown the same level of power against an opponent like Kaido or Imu. That is why it takes the fifth spot.

4 Dawn Gatling Unleashes a Relentless Barrage on Saturn

Dawn Gatling showed just how wild Luffy’s Gear 5 fighting style had become during the Egghead Arc. Luffy used the attack against Saint Saturn, throwing a huge number of punches at the Five Elders member while keeping up the pressure with his awakened powers.

What makes this move stand out is the sheer number of attacks Luffy can throw in such a short time. Saturn had already shown how difficult he was to put down, so watching Luffy keep hammering him with Gear 5 punches made the attack feel especially powerful. However, it still falls below the attacks that have shown greater finishing power or beaten tougher defenses.

3 Dawn Thor Bullet Finally Breaks Through Imu’s Defense

Dawn Thor Bullet is the newest Gear 5 attack on this list. It is expected to make its debut in the upcoming One Piece Chapter 1192, and it could quickly become one of Luffy’s most important Gear 5 attacks. According to the early chapter spoilers, Luffy first tries to punch Imu’s Shield of Emptiness but fails. The shield is so strong that Luffy’s hand even starts bleeding.

That is when Luffy comes up with another crazy idea. He sticks himself to Loki’s giant hammer and uses the lightning around it to launch himself toward Imu. The result is Dawn Thor Bullet, a powerful attack that reportedly breaks through Imu’s defense and hurts him. That gives it the edge over Dawn Gatling; however, as we are yet to see its real impact in the upcoming chapter, it ranks slightly lower than the top 2 Gear 5 attacks on this list.

2 Star Gun Knocked Kizaru Down With One Devastating Hit

Star Gun proved just how dangerous Luffy had become after mastering Gear 5. During the Egghead Arc, Luffy used the attack against Admiral Kizaru. The punch sent Kizaru crashing down and gave Luffy a major moment against one of the Marines’ strongest fighters.

The best thing about Star Gun is that it does not need the enormous size of Bajrang Gun to make an impact. Luffy packs tremendous power into a much more focused attack, making it far more practical in a fast battle. Knocking down Kizaru with one hit puts Star Gun above the newer Elbaf techniques for now, although Bajrang Gun still has the biggest feat.

1 Bajrang Gun Remains Luffy’s Most Powerful Gear 5 Attack in One Piece

Bajrang Gun remains the hardest Gear 5 attack to beat because of the sheer amount of power behind it. Luffy used the technique against Kaido near the end of the Wano Arc, creating a gigantic fist that was almost impossible to compare with his earlier attacks.

But the size is not the only reason this attack stands at number one. Luffy also combines it with advanced Haki, turning Bajrang Gun into a devastating finishing move. It was strong enough to overpower Kaido’s final attack and play a major role in ending their battle.

Star Gun may be faster, while Dawn Thor Bullet may eventually prove especially useful against Imu, but neither has matched what Bajrang Gun achieved against Kaido. Until Luffy reveals an even stronger Gear 5 technique, Bajrang Gun remains his ultimate punch.
