One Piece just had a massive win against Demon Slayer on X. The newly revealed teaser for One Piece Film: God Valley has already crossed 21.8 million views on X (see the official tweet), officially beating the 21.4 million views that the Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle trailer pulled in (views on the official tweet).

We have to consider the fact that the trailer just recently dropped, and what makes this even wilder is that the God Valley teaser doesn’t show a single frame of actual animation. It’s basically just a title reveal, and it’s still out-viewing the biggest anime movie in history. The numbers are proof that One Piece still has an insane hold on fans, even before the real hype train has left the station.

Why God Valley’s Teaser Is Already Winning Without Any Footage

Let’s be real, this shouldn’t even be possible. Infinity Castle’s trailer had actual fight scenes, new animation, and months of buildup before it dropped. It was basically ufotable flexing what it is capable of making.

God Valley’s teaser, on the other hand, has none of that. No footage, no voice lines, no build-up, nothing except a logo and a release window that just states a year.

This says a lot about where fan hype actually comes from. It’s not just about flashy visuals anymore; it’s about stakes. One Piece has made the fans excited with the one thing it’s best known for: the mystery. Oda started dropping hints about the God Valley incident years ago in the manga. When the story finally delivered the God Valley flashback, the demand for the complete story was sky-high.

However, the big brain move that the production made was to make it a canon movie instead of showing the complete thing in a new season. We know the actual powerhouses are fighting, so we already know the animations are going to be spectacular as well.

The Canon-Movie Formula That Demon Slayer and Chainsaw Man Proved

This whole trend of canon movies didn’t come out of nowhere. Demon Slayer: Mugen Train showed the world how a canon movie can work wonders for a franchise back in 2020. Following that, Infinity Castle made history by adapting the final arc of the Demon Slayer manga instead of some random side story, and it worked incredibly well.

The movie became the highest-grossing Japanese movie of all time worldwide, made on a strikingly modest budget relative to its haul. Then Chainsaw Man: The Movie – Reze Arc followed the same playbook in 2025 and also did well for itself.

The idea is simple. If a movie tells you what happens next in the actual story, you can’t just wait for it to show up on streaming later. You have to go watch it now or risk getting spoiled. That’s exactly the plan Toei is applying with God Valley.

What This Means for One Piece’s Box Office Future

If a teaser with zero footage is already out-viewing a fully realized trailer on a massive platform like X, that’s a big green flag for God Valley’s box office potential. Furthermore, this is actually going to be the first-ever canon movie in the One Piece franchise. Toei also confirmed a second film called BAAD, which is coming in 2029, suggesting that they’re serious about giving One Piece a real theatrical presence going forward.

Of course, views on a teaser don’t guarantee a movie will actually succeed. Infinity Castle’s views are backed by a genuinely great movie that has already come out, and God Valley still has to deliver once actual footage and a full trailer come out. It is also possible that the fans themselves don’t like it as much once the footage releases.

But still, if this is the reaction to just a name and a release year, the hype for God Valley once real content starts dropping could get out of control fast.
