“Just wondering how this is safe,” the man said to the camera before extending his phone outside the moving train to prove the window was removed.

It appears at least one fellow passenger aboard is not too concerned by the open window.

“Once again, our next stop is Agincourt,” the conductor said over the speaker as the train was heading southbound.

Metrolinx looking into ‘act of vandalism’

The transit agency said it is “currently looking into an act of vandalism on one of our trains” that occurred Sunday evening.

“A customer alerted our staff at Union Station to the issue and the problem was addressed immediately after,” a spokesperson shared in an emailed statement Tuesday.

“Our GO trains are equipped with safety features to protect our customers in the event of an emergency and misusing them is a serious offence. Individuals onboard our trains can report immediate safety or security concerns by pressing the yellow emergency strip or by texting ‘HELP’ to 77777.”

According to Metrolinx’s GO Train Emergency Evacuation Plan, there are 12 removable emergency exit windows on every coach.

In the event of an emergency where the doors cannot be opened, the transit agency says the glass panes can be physically removed from within the train.

Video goes viral

The video, which has gone viral, also received hundreds of comments and thousands of likes.

Several people said he should have moved to another seat and reported the safety issue with train staff.

“Sticking your hand and phone out of a window of a moving train is also not a very good idea,” a person commented. “Safety, yours and others riding the train, is paramount.”

Others cracked a joke about the hazardous situation.

“Need that during the rush hour sauna trains,” one commenter wrote.
