Lorrie Goldstein deserves to be congratulated for his April 18 column “Climate hysteria wasted our money, failed to reduce need for fossil fuels” exposing the sheer lunacy of the Canadian government’s extremely expensive Net Zero energy drive, a policy that is being enforced in this country for ideological reasons, when it is being abandoned in Europe and elsewhere. As Goldstein has rightly pointed out, there has been no real cost-benefit analysis of the harmful Net Zero energy policies by any of the various levels of government in Canada that are implementing them, despite the absence of a serious threat from climate change.

LIBERAL GUTTING OF CANADA
Other than the “new” capital expenditure account hiding the real cost of government spending, Mark Carney has no new tricks to fudge his government’s spendaholic numbers. Spending is a drug to them and they are highly addicted. They need cold turkey instead of hot lobster. Now that he has his hollow majority, he will no longer be in position to blame the other parties for the dismal future awaiting Canadians old and new. His party, his rules. When the U.S.-lran war ends and the American economy rebounds, who will Carney blame then? I doubt Donald Trump would offer him a position of governor after he ruins Canada. Then again, that could be his reward for gutting an entire country without a coup.

(It’s the same old with the “new” government. We shouldn’t have expected anything other than massive spending with massive debt)
A BETTER JOB
Carney has called for trade beyond the U.S. and to strengthen national security. His Davos speech rallying midsize economies to focus on building domestic strength received worldwide praise. However, Postmedia only finds negative headlines for him. Do you really think Pierre Poilievre could do better when all nations are suffering due to tariffs and higher oil prices amid the Iran war?
