The official Jujutsu Kaisen X/Twitter account just dropped a brand new visual for Jujutsu Kaisen: The Culling Game Part 2, giving fans their first proper look at Season 4’s version of Sukuna. The timing isn’t random either; this reveal comes right as Juju Fest 2026 kicks off (as per the official website), the big two-day event marking the anime’s 5th anniversary.

Naturally, those who have read the manga are already seeing the hidden details in the visual, and those who haven’t can’t help but wonder what they are. So in this article, we’re breaking down exactly what this new visual shows, what it means for the story, and where things stand on an actual Season 4 release date.

What the New Sukuna Visual Actually Shows

The vibe of this visual is entirely different from the previous seasons of the anime. Sukuna is actually shown almost swallowed by darkness, only partially visible with his hand, and that is an amazing art choice for this character. For the fans who have kept up with the manga, this kind of framing feels like intentional foreshadowing.

We are not going to spoil what it means in this particular section (look at the section below for that), but the way he is illustrated is already sparking many theories. Furthermore, his hand seems to almost reach out of the visual itself, and it has his classic smirking mouth on it. And finally, the visual has text written on it that translates to “Are you watching?”, as if he is addressing the viewers directly.

What’s Next for Sukuna in the Culling Game Arc?

Based on what’s already been teased in the anime’s own trailer, his next big move involves the binding vow he made with Yuji way back during the Fearsome Womb arc. That vow is basically a loophole, and it’s set up to let Sukuna take over Yuji’s body, and he cannot do anything about it. In fact, he doesn’t even remember anything about it.

What’s really going to happen is that Sukuna will take over Yuji’s body and attempt to transfer himself to Megumi’s body instead, which explains the visual showing him in darkness. That darkness is related to Megumi’s Cursed Technique, which allows him to use not just Shikigami but also be one with the shadows. It is easily one of the strongest Cursed Techniques in the entire anime, so it makes sense why the King of Curses wants it. In fact, Sukuna has already defeated Mahoraga once, so you can tell where this is going.

When Will Jujutsu Kaisen Season 4 Release?

Unfortunately, there’s still no confirmed date. MAPPA has only said the season is “diligently in production” (as per the official website), and even Anime Expo 2026 came and went without a release window drop. However, Juju Fest 2026 is happening right now on August 29 and 30 at K-Arena Yokohama, so we can expect a release date to drop soon enough.
