So, Netflix has finally given fans the news they have been waiting for – Steel Ball Run is going to be a weekly series! That means no batch releases and no waiting between episodes this time. Starting in Fall 2026, the second cour (aka “2nd STAGE“) of JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Steel Ball Run will release one episode a week!

Personally? This changes everything! After weeks of confusion following that 47-minute premiere, fans can finally rest easy knowing we will not be going through another Stone Ocean situation. Let us explore in detail.

Steel Ball Run Weekly Release Confirmed by Netflix

So here is what we know, according to Netflix themselves – the 2nd Stage of Steel Ball Run is going to be distributed on a weekly release schedule, starting Fall 2026. According to them, this was always the plan and aligns with what the production committee wanted from the beginning.

The first episode that premiered on March 19, 2026? Essentially, a long cinematic introduction – the “1st STAGE” was setting up the plot. The full ride will begin at the second “cour” with the weekly unfolding of the plot. And let us be honest – JoJo needs that weekly format. The memes, the theories, the “WHAT DID I JUST WATCH?!” moments – that will not have the same impact with a batch drop.

Meanwhile, there is a reason why everyone has been so worried about how Steel Ball Run will be treated. The negative reception towards Netflix’s release method was mainly intensified by their treatment of JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Stone Ocean, where they released batches of episodes over long periods of time, killing all hype surrounding the show.

So when Steel Ball Run released a single episode and went silent, the JoJo fanbase immediately assumed the worst possible outcome. However, Netflix paid attention this time around, or at least chose to implement a more effective release strategy of one episode a week for Steel Ball Run, which will create continued engagement with the fanbase.

Steel Ball Run Is JoJo‘s Big Reset

If you are still unfamiliar with it, Steel Ball Run is a complete reboot of JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure. This time around, the action takes place in the late 1800s, and it tells the story of two characters – Johnny Joestar and Gyro Zeppeli – who are competing in a large-scale, cross-country horse race across America from San Diego all the way to New York for a massive $50 million prize.

The same animators who brought us the original adaptation of JoJo‘s have returned (David Production). After the 1st STAGE, fans have praised their efforts in recreating Hirohiko Araki‘s incredible drawings exactly as they appeared in the manga, and hence the incredible ratings. The staff lineup is stacked, too, with experienced directors, strong character design, and music, which means the vibes are guaranteed.

Also, since Netflix decided to release this arc weekly, it will actually get room to breathe, which is important because Steel Ball Run is perhaps the most complex of all the JoJo arcs. The only thing left to do now is wait for when the race actually starts.
