As Sydney Sweeney faces the heat again for Euphoria season 3, fans of the star were waiting for a confirmation on her heavily rumored cameo in The Devil Wears Prada 2. The sequel to the cult classic romantic comedy opens in May and has been a long time coming.

However, fans of Sweeney would be disappointed as there is no truth to the rumor that the Immaculate star will be featuring in the film. The writer of the film, Aline Brosh McKenna, clarified speculations by stating that Sydney Sweeney will not be appearing in the film.

Twenty years after Miranda Priestly created terror in the hearts of her employees, the legendary Meryl Streep returns, along with Anne Hathaway, in the sequel, The Devil Wears Prada 2. The comedy set in the world of fashion sees many familiar faces from the original, including Emily Blunt and Stanley Tucci, while there are some new additions as well.

After she was spotted at the New York City set of The Devil Wears Prada 2, Sydney Sweeney was widely speculated to be part of the movie, though it was never confirmed. Fans reportedly speculated that the actress would appear in a cameo, possibly on the runway. However, screenwriter Aline Brosh McKenna dismissed those rumors.

Addressing the wide range of rumors about casting in the sequel, McKenna stated in an interview with ScreenRant that most of them were not true. When she was specifically asked about Sweeney’s appearance in the movie, she said,

Well, you saw the movie. She’s not in the movie.

The writer also confirmed that Sydney Sweeney was not in the final cut of the movie. McKenna mentioned that all the rumors and memes about various cast members were the first time she realized that there was a lot of interest in the sequel.

While the writer of The Devil Wears Prada 2 has categorically denied Sydney Sweeney’s presence in the film, even in a cameo, one question remains: What was she doing on the sets of the movie? TMZ reported in August of last year that the actress was spotted on the New York City set of the movie and was being extremely secretive about her presence.

However, the actress does not seem to be in it anymore, even as a cameo. Sweeney had also denied her presence, albeit her statement was more vague than a proper denial (via Screen Rant).

Writer Aline Brosh McKenna was asked if she was supposed to play a character in a possible third movie. She said,

Don’t know. I would do a hundred movies with this cast. I would do any kind of movie...I would do a James Bond movie. I would do an action movie. I’d do whatever they want.

While denial seems to be the primary messaging among the crew of The Devil Wears Prada 2, there is still no clear answer on what Sydney Sweeney was doing on the set of the movie if she is not in it.
