Jessica Hilliard, 34, was fatally shot in the parking lot outside of Niki’s Quick Six in Parks Township, Pa., late Saturday when she tried to break up a fracas between the woman and an alleged gunman.

“A man was possibly putting his hands on a female and her and another friend, you know, tried to step in and stop it,” Hailey Frawley, the slain woman’s sister, told WTAE.

“And that individual who was, you know, going after the female is the person who ended up shooting,” Hilliard and three others, the sister said.

Deadly night

The deadly incident began when the woman rushed into the bar at 1 a.m. saying the suspect — who police identified as David Dunmire, 36 — just jumped her. Dunmire was arrested at the scene and faces 16 charges, including four counts of criminal homicide.

Police and family say Hilliard and some others rushed outside to intervene, family and police said.

Video captured Dunmire allegedly drawing a gun and firing seven times at the crowd as he tried to flee the scene, police say. Hilliard was hit multiple times in her chest.

“Our sister died a hero, and she is the kind of person who would always jump in to help anybody, regardless of if she knew them or not,” said her other sister, Amanda Evacheck. “And she’s been like that her whole life.”

A 24-year-old woman, 25-year-old man and a 34-year-old man were also shot, police said.
