She also fell for two brothers, which made her new life about as peaceful as a rodeo bull inside a stationery shop.

Season 1 ended with Jackie kissing Cole and leaving for New York after Alex confessed his love. In Season 2, she reunited with Alex, admitted she loved both brothers, and George Walter’s medical emergency left everything unresolved heading into Season 3. Jackie Howard’s bond with Katherine Walter remains sturdier than either romance, since Katherine Walter knew Jackie Howard’s late mother and understands the grief Jackie Howard disguises with schedules, grades, and impossible standards. Nikki Rodriguez told Netflix Tudum that Jackie Howard returned after recognising she was no longer the same person who had left New York. Silver Falls changed her, but New York still represents her ambitions, family history, and former identity.

Season 3 will deepen the conflict with Eliot, Jackie Howard’s childhood friend from New York who arrives as Richard Howard’s intern. He represents the life she left behind and challenges the person she has become in Colorado, bringing new emotional complications. 

Alex and Jackie Rebuilt Their Romance in Secret

The trouble began on My Life with the Walter Boys Season 1 Episode 10, Happily Ever After, when Alex Walter confessed his love shortly before Jackie Howard kissed Cole Walter and left for New York. By Season 2, Jackie Howard and Alex Walter had rebuilt their relationship in secret, but the truth about that kiss remained between them like an unpaid debt. Their reconciliation collapsed on My Life with the Walter Boys Season 2 Episode 10 after Alex Walter overheard Jackie Howard admit that she was in love with Cole Walter.

Alex Walter handled the confession with more maturity than he would have shown a year earlier, then told her he loved her again while sober. Jackie Howard said it back. That declaration was not a calculated lie, although viewers have good reason to question what she wanted from the relationship. Melanie Halsall explained the contradiction to Netflix Tudum: “She’s in love with Cole, but she still loves Alex.” Nikki Rodriguez agreed that Jackie Howard’s love for each brother comes from a different part of her. Jackie Howard’s confusion is understandable, but dating Alex while hiding feelings for Cole was reckless. Alex Walter deserved the truth long before it reached him on the porch. 

Cole Could Not Bury What Happened in the Barn

Cole Walter and Jackie Howard’s attraction had already crossed a line on My Life with the Walter Boys Season 1 Episode 10, when they kissed before Jackie Howard fled Silver Falls. They tried to maintain some distance after her return, but the feelings neither wanted to name continued following them through Season 2. That tension finally broke on Season 2 Episode 10. Cole Walter confronted Jackie Howard after seeing her kiss Alex Walter, and Jackie Howard admitted that she could not control herself around him. Their mutual confession might have settled one question, but Alex Walter heard the entire exchange.

Cole Walter pulled away until Jackie Howard confronted him outside the Walter home. He admitted what he saw and questioned why she was comfortable with Alex but overwhelmed around him. Jackie confessed her feelings, and they finally admitted they were in love. Alex Walter heard everything.

Ashby Gentry defended all three characters in Netflix’s finale interview, saying, “Both Alex and Cole are entitled to an explanation from Jackie. On top of that, Jackie’s entitled to her feelings for both of them.” That is fair, although entitlement to feelings does not grant immunity from their consequences.

Silver Falls Has More Than One Romantic Mess

The central triangle hogs the sunlight, but several supporting relationships enter Season 3 with unfinished business. Kiley developed an unexpected connection with football player Dylan during wood-shop class. Kiley encouraged Dylan to stop allowing his father to solve every problem, while Dylan helped her step outside her role as Alex Walter’s endlessly patient best friend. They kissed during the Silver Sparkle event, and Alex Walter reacted badly before understanding why.

Melanie Halsall told Netflix that Kiley would still choose Alex Walter if he finally recognised what she meant to him. Alex Walter has spent years treating Kiley as family while chasing someone whose heart is split between two brothers, so watching jealousy arrive several exits late was both frustrating and painfully believable. Nathan Walter and Skylar Summerhill ended Season 2 on uncertain ground. After Nathan kissed Zach while dating Skylar and later reunited with her, the betrayal remained unresolved despite their renewed feelings, leaving their future together unclear. 

Danny Walter and Erin grew closer, while Will Walter helped keep the family ranch running during Hayley’s trip to Chile. Even with a house full of people, the Walters never seem to avoid relationship drama. 

George’s Emergency Shattered the Finale

The confrontation between Jackie Howard, Cole Walter, and Alex Walter was interrupted during My Life with the Walter Boys Season 2 Episode 10. Will Walter arrived on an ATV as emergency vehicles approached the ranch and told them, “It’s dad.” George Walter’s medical crisis ended Season 2 before the brothers could confront Jackie Howard or each other. Season 3 will resume from that exact point, forcing the family to deal with George Walter’s condition while the romantic fallout remains painfully unfinished.

The Season 3 trailer confirms George Walter survives, but his recovery will affect the family for some time. Katherine Walter warns that they will have to deal with his condition, and Jackie Howard appears to blame herself for the chaos surrounding his collapse.

That guilt is misplaced, although it suits Jackie Howard’s habit of treating every disaster as something she should have prevented with a better spreadsheet. George Walter’s illness may force her to accept that loving a family does not mean managing every person inside it.

Season 3 Adds New Risks and One More Suitor

The third season begins exactly where Season 2 stopped, according to Ashby Gentry, with everybody “picking up the pieces” after their shared reality breaks apart. Netflix’s official Season 3 preview also confirms that each lead will pursue a riskier path. Alex Walter joins a professional bronc-riding team, facing new pressure and expectations. Meanwhile, Cole Walter finds a fresh purpose in drag racing after his football career ends, embracing the adrenaline of the track after his injury. 

Jackie Howard begins developing a community space for Silver Falls and tries to place her own desires ahead of everybody else’s approval. Nikki Rodriguez said, “For the first time this season, she does start to put herself first.” Eliot, played by Naveen Paddock, may test whether that bolder Jackie Howard wants her old New York path, her Colorado family, or another romantic complication she absolutely does not need.

My biggest concern is that Jackie Howard will use George Walter’s emergency to delay choosing between Alex and Cole again. Season 3 needs real consequences, especially for Alex, who has endured enough heartbreak. Should Jackie choose Cole, stay with Alex, or walk away from both?
