One Piece Chapter 1190 Preview: Gaban’s Massive Sacrifice After Putting Imu to the Test

The Final Saga of One Piece keeps raising the stakes with every new chapter. Just when it looked like Luffy had no way of defeating Imu, one legendary pirate stepped forward to protect the future Pirate King.

Now, according to the latest spoilers for One Piece Chapter 1190 (via @pewpiece on Twitter/X), Scopper Gaban is all set to do the unthinkable as he faces off against Imu. If the spoilers are true, then One Piece fans will witness an absolutely iconic chapter in the Elbaf Arc. Here’s everything we know so far.

Gaban Reveals New Attack That Finally Damaged Imu

Chapter 1189 of One Piece ended with Scopper Gaban arriving just in time to save Luffy. After Imu stabbed Luffy and trapped him against the World Tree with the legendary sword Fragarach, the ruler of the World Government prepared to finish him using the Axe of Xingtian. Before the attack could land, Gaban stepped in and blocked it.

According to the early spoilers, Gaban immediately launches his counterattack instead of simply defending Luffy. He reportedly uses a brand-new technique called Shinmon: Hassen – Fukushu, a powerful attack that tears apart the battlefield and sends both him and Imu crashing into Elbaf’s Underworld.

Even more surprising, the spoilers suggest this may be the first attack that actually injures Imu during the Elbaf battle. While the full extent of the damage is still unknown, simply forcing Imu onto the defensive is a huge achievement. Until now, the mysterious ruler has looked almost unstoppable.

Before the fight reaches its climax, Gaban also gives Luffy a harsh but important lesson. He tells him that the Pirate King is “the person whose death would make people happy” because countless people dream of taking that title. According to Gaban, anyone who wants to become Pirate King while living a peaceful and comfortable life should give up and go home. It is another confirmation that real freedom requires sacrifices.

Sadly, Gaban appears to pay a terrible price for proving that point. The spoilers indicate that this chapter will end with Gaban losing his left arm below the elbow, leaving Luffy completely shocked.

The moment also creates an interesting parallel with Shanks. Years ago, Shanks lost his left arm while saving a young Luffy from the Sea King. Now, another member of Roger’s crew appears to lose his left arm while protecting the same future Pirate King. Whether this is an intentional callback by Eiichiro Oda or simply a coincidence, the similarities are hard to ignore. Just like Shanks inspired Luffy to begin his journey, Gaban’s sacrifice could become another major turning point in his path to becoming Pirate King.

One Piece Chapter 1190 Sets Up an Emotional Final Saga Chapter

Beyond Gaban’s sacrifice, Chapter 1190 looks set to push the Final Saga into an even darker direction. Chapter 1189 already revealed that Imu possesses several legendary weapons connected to the founders of the World Government, including Fragarach, Gram, Longinus, and the Axe of Xingtian. The early spoilers now suggest that Imu also draws another ancient sword called Honebami, meaning “Bone Eater,” making the King of the World even more terrifying.

Meanwhile, the reported chapter title, “The Person Whose Death Would Make People Happy,” perfectly matches Gaban’s speech to Luffy. Instead of focusing only on flashy battles, the chapter appears to explore the heavy burden that comes with chasing the title of Pirate King. Throughout the series, Oda has repeatedly shown that every generation makes sacrifices so the next one can move forward, and Chapter 1190 of One Piece seems to follow a similar pattern.

However, like all early spoilers, these details should be treated with caution until the official chapter is released. The full chapter may provide additional context or reveal even bigger surprises. Nevertheless, if the spoilers are accurate, One Piece Chapter 1190 would be among the most emotional chapters of the Final Saga. Gaban proved once again that Imu is not unbeatable, but the price for that victory over the King of the World may come with a very high cost.
