Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero brings an insanely large roster of characters for players to choose from, including some of the most powerful villains in the Dragon Ball universe. Among these villains is Goku Black, the dark version of Goku, who is actually Zamasu in Goku’s body.
For players wanting to unlock this character, there are two main ways to do it. You can either grind through the game to unlock him or use some shortcuts to get him faster. Let’s look at how to unlock Goku Black in Sparking Zero.
How to Unlock Goku Black Through the Sparking Zero Shop
Goku Black is definitely worth unlocking for fans of the series.Unlocking Goku Black can be done either by reaching Player Level 20 and buying him from the Shop, or by summoning Super Shenron and asking for “More Characters.”
The Super Shenron method is much faster, especially if you complete the Goku’s Saga Episode Battles for the Super Dragon Balls. Either way, players will need to put in some work to add this to their roster.

Players who pre-ordered the game can unlock him from the get-go, just like the Ultimate Edition owners.
In the game, many characters, including Goku Black, are unlocked through the Sparking Zero game shop. But to make Goku Black available in the Shop, you need to reach Player Level 20 first.
This is why new players won’t see him in the Shop at the start. Once you reach Level 20, you’ll be able to purchase Goku Black for 120,000 Zeni which is the in-game currency.
To get to Level 20 as quickly as possible, players should complete character-specific Episode Battles and take part in Offline Tournaments. Both of these will help you level up faster and get enough Zeni for purchasing Goku Black.
While it may take some time to get to this point, the game does offer an alternative method in the form of Super Shenron for those who don’t want to wait too long, or grind for it.
Summoning Super Shenron for a Quick Goku Black Unlock
The Super Shenron method is far quicker and easier.The quickest way to unlock Goku Black is by summoning Super Shenron. To do this, players need to collect all seven Super Dragon Balls. These can be found through different missions in the game, but there is a shortcut. If you complete all of the Goku’s Saga Episode Battles, you’ll be rewarded with all seven Super Dragon Balls at once.
Once you have all of them, you can summon Super Shenron, who has the power to grant wishes. The “Come Forth” menu will allow you to call on Shenron, and when you do, you’ll have the option to ask for “More Characters.”
Super Shenron will then offer you a choice between unlocking Goku Black or Fused Zamasu, the main villains from the Goku Black arc in Dragon Ball Super.
If you select Goku Black, you’ll unlock him without needing to spend any Zeni. But if you decide to unlock Fused Zamasu first, you’ll still have the option to unlock Goku Black later.
To do so, you can either gather the Super Dragon Balls again by completing optional sub-battles in different fighters’ Episode Battles or buy him from the Shop once you reach Player Level 20, as mentioned in the first method.
