Whitebeard, Marineford

SUMMARY

  • The Marineford arc had a lot of legendary moments but the one that fans find thrilling to this day is Luffy facing all three Admirals.
  • He is the only character in the entire series who stood against all three of them together.
  • Other than him, Buggy is the only one who faced all three Navy admirals, but he did it one by one.

One of the most epic storylines of One Piece, the Marineford arc is a complete package that takes fans through a rollercoaster ride of emotions. The arc contains one of the biggest battles in One Piece, and although there have been other storylines that are created in a much better way than Marineford, none of them have been able to match the grandness of the Marineford arc.

The arc featured one of the biggest fleets of pirates in the One Piece series, facing off against the biggest Navy army. Among them, the strongest power was Fleet Admiral Sengoku, and after that, the three Admirals at the time, Akainu, Kizaru, and Aokiji. Each one of them was a menace on his own, and very few characters dared to face them alone.

However, there was one character who faced all three of them at the same time and lived to tell the tale. This character was none other than Monkey D. Luffy, the protagonist of One Piece. Luffy’s determination to save his brother Ace was so strong that he didn’t even fear the three Navy admirals and jumped head-on against them. This was something that even Whitebeard couldn’t do.

Luffy vs. The Three Navy Admirals in Marineford

The epicness of the Marineford arc in One Piece can be understood from the fact that the arc had one of the strongest Emperor pirate crews of that time: all seven Warlords of the Sea, former Warlords of the Sea, Navy Fleet Admiral, the three Navy Admirals, almost every Vice Admiral, and thousands of other pirates and Marine soldiers.

While the arc had many legendary moments, the one that shocked every fan was when Luffy asked Jimbei to throw him using his Fish-Man karate technique, and he landed right in front of Ace’s execution platform. But he was stopped by all three Navy Admirals at the same time.

However, this did not waver Luffy’s determination even a little bit. He went on to attack all three Admirals together and move past them in a few seconds. This proved that even before the time skip, Luffy was determined and focused on his goal and didn’t care about who was standing in front of him.

The Only Other Character To Face All Three Navy Admirals

Although Luffy’s feat during Marineford was amazing, there is one other character who faced all three Admirals and is still alive and kicking. The only difference is that he faced them one by one. This character is none other than Luffy’s comedic rival in One Piece, Buggy the Clown. As fans know, Buggy was also present at Marineford, and he was a significant inclusion.

Buggy did a lot of great things during the Marineford arc, but most of them were unintentional and were used to portray humor. He accidentally live-streamed the entire war to the whole world and even formed an alliance with Whitebeard. However, his biggest feat was surviving the attack of the three Navy Admirals.

He was frozen by Aokiji, shot at by Kizaru, and magma punched by Akainu. Although all three of them were just Eiichiro Oda’s way of portraying humor through Buggy, it still earned him the title of facing all three Navy Admirals. This, in some way, also makes him one of the strongest pirates in One Piece.

One Piece is available to watch on Crunchyroll.
