Emma Watson, Robert Pattinson in Harry Potter

SUMMARY

  • Robert Pattinson struggled to recall Emma Watson's name during filming of Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire.
  • In a blooper, Pattinson was asked to identify Watson, but he couldn't, leading to Watson teasing him.
  • Fans have shared witty reactions to the resurfaced clip, joking about Pattinson's forgetfulness and Watson's playful response.

Emma Watson quite literally became an overnight fan-favorite sensation with the Harry Potter film series, thanks to her outstanding performance as the best Hermoine Granger there has ever been and will be. Even though it was her first acting gig, the actress didn’t leave any stone unturned while working on the book-based film series and, soon enough, everyone knew who she was.

However, this “everyone” seems to have missed out on one of her very crucial co-stars from the saga: Robert Pattinson, the onscreen Cedric Diggory. As it turns out, even though the two worked together on one movie from the film series, the Twilight alum just couldn’t remember Watson’s name offscreen – something that really bothered the actress and had her going off on him!

The Time Robert Pattinson Forgot Emma Watson’s Name

Both Watson and Pattinson earned their breakouts in the entertainment industry through their respective performances as Hermoine Granger and Cedric Diggory in the Harry Potter film series. But while Emma Watson was present in every movie, Pattinson was there for only one – The Goblet of Fire – where his character was introduced in the beginning and killed off by the end.

Perhaps, this was the very reason why Robert Pattinson ostensibly forgot her incredibly-genius-on-screen co-star’s name even while working together – since they didn’t get that long to hang around. This seemingly happened back when the two were still working on the fourth movie in the film series, as was seen in one of the behind-the-scenes bloopers from the film’s sets.

In a compilation clip shared by pstudios on YouTube, Pattinson and Watson were seen standing together, engaged in a conversation with the cameraman, when the one behind the lens asked Rob, “So, who’s this standing right next to you?”

Surprisingly enough, the Batman star’s reaction was as clueless as ever as his ostensibly panicking face made it clear he didn’t know her name.

To this, The Perks of Being a Wildflower actress was heard saying, “Come on! Get my name right. Get used to me! WHAT’S MY NAME??? He doesn’t know my name! What’s my name, Rob?” Throughout this while, Pattinson didn’t even try to hide his struggle as his visibly perplexed self tried to figure out her name. Eventually giving up, he said, “That’s- That’s- That’s- That’s that one.”

Hilariously enough, his saying “That’s that one” instead of actually remembering her name and saying it out loud had Watson quite literally gaping at her co-star as he meekly chuckled and walked out of the room to save himself. The jaw-dropped Little Women actress, in the meanwhile, was left speechless as she said, laughing, “That’s that one? That’s just plain rude!”

Inevitably enough, as awkward and embarrassing (and comical) as this must have been for both of them, this was also one of the most wholesome behind-the-scenes moments from the entire Harry Potter film series. Fans, in the meanwhile, have been having some of the wittiest responses to the same as they react to this gem of a clip recently resurfaced on the internet.

As @meawwofficial on Instagram recently unearthed this iconic clip from the sets of The Goblin of Fire that had Watson and Pattinson bickering over the actress’ name, fans once again reminisced the fond memories of all the times the young cast of the Harry Potter saga shared together. Taking to the comment section of the same, here are some of their witty remarks to it:

Cut the man some slack he just got killed

@dave_ryde99

@amanraj199825

Most nonchalant guy ever

@constant_fear

And then he died.

@her.name.is.alice

@pr_veen06

She wanted his approval so bad. Must’ve been crushing.

@inspectrdeck

Seems like he wants to do everything but get used to her 😂 did that one movie and ran

@whoaitsjamess

Couse he’s Batman. Who is she?

@thanos_was_half_right1

For what it’s worth, it does seem Robert Pattinson’s memory was as elusive as a Golden Snitch – especially when it came to remembering Emma Watson’s name. That said, who needs a Memory Charm when you have Watson’s wit and Pattinson’s charm (of forgetfulness!)?

Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire can currently be watched on Prime Video.
