Silent Hill 2 Remake: How To Get the Bliss Ending

Silent Hill 2 Remake has captured the aura of the original game released in 2001. In some cases, this remake version has done more than just recreate the iconic survival horror experience; this will clearly be felt as players gradually progress toward the end of the game. Silent Hill 2 Remake has multiple endings to experience, and the Bliss Ending is among them.

Games often offer players more than one ending, and with each choice, players carve their way to a specific ending. It’s the same when you are playing Silent Hill 2 Remake. While the iconic 2001 experience had five different endings, this new one added two more endings to the game. Bliss is among these newly added endings of the game.

How Do Different Endings Work in Silent Hill 2 Remake?

Often story-based games come with multiple endings to enhance the gameplay experience, and when it comes to Konami, it loves to give its players multiple endings that can be accessed based on how they have been progressing throughout the game. 

In Silent Hill 2 Remake, the endings work based on how you play the game. The game will constantly monitor and analyze the choices you make or how James reacts to those choices. Basically, Konami has set it in a way that the game will judge players’ in-game activities, and how James feels depending on the actions that players made him to take. Even the battles will count.

To explain it further, players will get different endings in Silent Hill 2 Remake as they keep progressing through the main story and make different choices. These decisions will make James feel differently about certain characters. While he will be caring about a few of them, he will ignore others. 

Additionally, your choices will decide how defensive he will be during combat and how self-preservation he will show throughout the journey. All of these combinedly trigger an ending you will reach. 

How to Get the Bliss Ending in Silent Hill 2

The Bliss ending along with another newly added ending, the Stillness ending, requires players to complete the game’s main story and unlock the New Game+ mode. This criterion has made these particular endings a little difficult to achieve, especially in higher difficulties.

Here players must note that Silent Hill 2 Remake has changed the concept of New Game+ mode. In this game, players will start the New Game+ journey just like they started their first playthrough. There won’t be any weapon or equipment in the possession from the previous playthrough.

However, still, things will be a little easier the second time, as you are already aware of where to get the necessary items and weapons.

Once you start this New Game+ mode, you will realize that this time the game has newly added key items to find. These will direct you to different conclusions. To get the Bliss ending, players need to visit Pete’s Bowl-O-Rama. This location will be found on the west side of the South Vale.

As you enter the room, you will find a locked safe on the wooden shelf on the left side. Players need to find the code from a dead Lying Figure enemy. Anyway, if you have missed it, just put 1887, and the safe will be unlocked.

Once you unlock the safe, you will get the Brookhaven Hospital 1F map and a Rusted Key from inside. Take these two items, get out of the room, and proceed toward your next destination, the hospital.

Explore the hospital normally, and in the garden, you will come across a gazebo. Inside the gazebo, there will be a small chest that you can pick up. 

Combine the small chest and the Rusted Key to get White Claudia. Keep it for now, and make your way to the Lakeview Hotel, Room No. 312. Let James drink the White Claudia before interacting with the VCR to get the Bliss ending of the game.

What the Bliss Ending Will Show In Silent Hill 2?

If you have encountered the other endings of the game, you are aware that they all have different stories to tell. With every other alternate ending, the journey of James Sunderland will reach a new conclusion. So, the Bliss ending also has something interesting to reveal.

The ending doesn’t clarify anything; instead, it leaves things open for players to interpret. As soon as James drinks the White Claudia and enters the tape into the VCR, a cutscene will trigger, which will take players back to the late 90s or early 2000s.

Here players will find a fine morning when James and Mary were happily enjoying the weather and the scenery. However, they are packing things up to get back to their home, and as the tape progresses, we will see James giving a weird look to the camera while replying to Mary that everything is fine.

This smile hints at multiple possibilities, especially because just after that, the cutscene shows an empty room with none inside. Maybe it hints that James never left his house after picking Mary up and everything was a trick. Alternatively, it may also imply that with the smile, James is trying to show his intention of killing his wife once they reach home.
