Boruto Official Sets Up New Hokage After Konoha’s Biggest Conspiracy Since 9 Tails

In Naruto or Boruto, being Hokage is not just about having the strongest ninjutsu. It also means making difficult choices when the entire village is watching.

Konoha has been caught in dangerous conspiracies before, with the Nine-Tails incident standing as one of the biggest turning points in its history. Now, the recent Boruto: Two Blue Vortex Chapter 37 finally pushes his Hokage crisis to a breaking point, while also opening the door for a new leader. And after secretly helping Boruto Uzumaki, Konoha’s acting Eighth Hokage Shikamaru Nara is now facing removal from his position.

Shikamaru’s Boruto Problem Has Put His Hokage Title At Risk

Shikamaru was never in an easy position after Naruto Uzumaki was presumed dead. He took over as the acting Eighth Hokage during one of Konoha’s most difficult periods, while the entire shinobi world believed Boruto had killed the Seventh Hokage.

The problem was that Shikamaru eventually learned the truth. Boruto was not Konoha’s enemy, and the events surrounding Naruto’s disappearance were far more complicated than the village believed. Instead of simply following the order to hunt Boruto down, Shikamaru quietly worked with him.

That decision made sense from Shikamaru’s point of view, but it also gave his enemies something to use against him. In Chapter 36 of Boruto: Two Blue Vortex, Kobu made it clear that he wanted to prove Shikamaru had been helping Boruto. Chapter 37 now takes that investigation much further. Kobu tells Shikamaru that new testimony has appeared, with Nishi being brought forward as an important witness.

This could finally give Konoha enough reason to remove Shikamaru from the Hokage position. It is also a fitting end to a very unusual Hokage run. Shikamaru never had the normal path to the position, and his time as acting Hokage was always tied to the chaos surrounding Naruto’s disappearance.

The Nine-Tails conspiracy began when the masked Obito Uchiha attacked Konoha and used his Sharingan to control the Nine-Tails, turning the beast against the village. The attack led to the deaths of Minato and Kushina and left Naruto as the jinchuriki. For years, the truth behind the attack remained hidden, making it one of Konoha’s biggest mysteries.

Meanwhile, Shikamaru’s time as Hokage also stands out because he is very different from the leaders who came before him. He was never known for overwhelming strength like Hashirama, Naruto, or even Kakashi or Tsunade. His biggest weapon has always been his mind, and that made him a very different kind of leader.

As acting Hokage, however, what makes the situation more interesting is that Shikamaru may be losing his title because he refused to treat Boruto as a simple enemy. His decision could cost him politically, even if it proves important for Konoha in the long run.

Konohamaru Can Finally Achieve His Hokage Dream After Naruto

With Shikamaru’s position falling apart, Konoha will need someone else to lead the village. That is where Konohamaru Sarutobi comes into the picture. Konohamaru has wanted to become Hokage since he was a child. Naruto was one of the biggest reasons behind that dream, and after years of waiting, the current situation could finally give him the chance he has been looking for.

There is also a clear connection between Konohamaru and Konoha’s past. He is the grandson of Hiruzen Sarutobi, the Third Hokage, and has spent his entire life trying to follow the path set by the village’s greatest leaders. The recent manga chapter has not officially confirmed that Konohamaru will become the new Eighth Hokage. Still, Shikamaru’s possible removal creates a natural opening for him.

More importantly, making Konohamaru Hokage would finally give the character a much bigger role in the story. He has spent much of Boruto standing behind characters such as Naruto, Sasuke, Boruto, and Kawaki. Becoming Hokage would force him to step into the center of Konoha’s biggest problems.

Meanwhile, Shikamaru may be losing the title, but his story is far from over. His secret connection with Boruto and his future role in the battle against the Shinju could make him even more important after leaving the Hokage office.
