The wait is finally over. Marvel Studios dropped the first full trailer for Avengers: Doomsday, and the internet promptly lost its mind. Much like the earlier teasers, Thor once again feels like the emotional center of the story. Chris Hemsworth‘s God of Thunder helps guide us through the trailer, laying out just how serious the Doom threat really is. At one point, he grimly warns, “We’re going to need a miracle,” setting the stakes for the entire film. And he brings together the team with this message: “If you return, you will return as brothers and sisters.”

We also see Thor come face to face with Doctor Doom in a jaw-dropping moment where the villain casually catches Stormbreaker with a single hand. It’s a chilling recreation of the Infinity War scene, when Thor failed to stop Thanos, and it instantly tells you just how dangerous Doom really is.

2 We Get First Look at Robert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom

We also get our first proper look at Robert Downey Jr. as Doctor Doom. Ever since he was revealed at Comic-Con back in 2024, fans have wondered how RDJ would separate this role from Tony Stark. The trailer offers a strong hint, as Downey Jr. appears to have given Doom his own menacing identity.

Hidden behind that iconic green hooded cloak and metal mask, he radiates pure threat. That Stormbreaker catch alone, holding off Thor’s mighty weapon one-handed, positions Doom as possibly the most powerful villain the MCU has ever seen. Fans will have to wait to see whether he works alone or as a team.

3 The Trailer Reveals the Much-Awaited X-Men Debut in the MCU

Perhaps the biggest thrill for longtime fans is the official arrival of the X-Men in the MCU. The trailer features Patrick Stewart‘s Professor X delivering an ominous warning: “Something’s coming, something we may not be able to deter.”

We also get glimpses of Ian McKellen‘s Magneto and James Marsden‘s Cyclops firing an optic blast, finally bringing Fox’s beloved mutants into the main Marvel universe. One standout moment sees Simu Liu’s Shang-Chi trading blows with Channing Tatum’s Gambit. There’s even a scene where the shapeshifting Mystique, played by Rebecca Romijn, turns into Yelena, giving us a Florence Pugh vs Florence Pugh fight.

4 Loki, Shang-Chi, Fantastic Four, New Avengers, and Wakandans Also Return

The trailer is stuffed with familiar faces. We see Sam Wilson’s New Avengers assembling inside a rebranded Avengers Tower, featuring the likes of Yelena, Bucky Barnes, Joaquín Torres, and Ant-Man under a fresh new “A” logo. The Fantastic Four are here too, with Ben Grimm’s Thing sharing a fun first meeting with Wakanda’s M’Baku.

Speaking of Wakanda, Shuri suits up as Black Panther in a tense standoff against Tenoch Huerta’s Namor and his Talokan army. One scene also features the return of the now-Multiverse God, Loki. However, his role in the movie is kept under wraps for now.

5 Chris Evans’ Captain America Returns With Infinity War Look

Marvel saved one of its biggest surprises for the very end. The trailer closes with the return of Chris Evans as Steve Rogers. Interestingly, Steve is sporting long hair and a full beard, the same rugged look he rocked in Avengers: Infinity War.

He shares an emotional reunion with Thor and proves himself worthy by holding the Mjolnir, hinting that the old friends will fight side by side once more. That said, his different appearance has fans asking one big question. Is this really our Steve Rogers, or a variant from another universe? Either way, fans are looking forward to Cap’s comeback.
